Grenzwacht#2 release on Monday!

Here's a quick reminder that the release of the next set is coming beginning of next week.

I wanted to share these promo pics showcasing the interior with some of the basic bits I have made in the past and that would make sense here. Very happy how these turned out :)

One thing I wanted to talk about is the going up and down with this building. For me the natural place for stairs would be in the tower, so if you combine the tower and the barracks/armory it will make much sense. But if you only want the armory/barracks as a solo building I have thought of several options.

One is I made a trap door in the center of the upper floor. So there could be a ladder for going down (or up). The other is for when you have the high extension (the one covering the full height of the building). It would also make sense to have a ladder - or even some stairs - here.

So my question to you guys is: how do you tackle going up and down in a building. Do you need to have visible ladders? I could make a little ladder part to glue on the wall. But I am not sure how to make 3D ladders that would make sense. Any ideas?

I have included an idea for stairs in a tower but I am not sure how it would work perfectly as the doors would have to be at certain positions - which they would not be with this set.

Let me know what you think about stairs - for this set and in general!

That's it for today. Have a great weekend and see you all next week to the release :D

Comments

Thanks for those comments! Yes I agree esp with the conundrum playability vs realism. For now I will just add another extras page with ladders and trap doors and everyone can go nuts how they prefer :) The spiral staircase is something I want to do as an extra bit anyway.

Hello! Just one thing: don´t overdo the stairs! This spiral staircase is just perfect - one can do battles up and down all day with all figures precisely positioned. But handling it in gameplay is just a nightmare - either you have to pull it carefully out of the tower (or wherever it is situated) to resolve the battle and then put it back, complete with all those figures that choose to lurk around there, or you keep it as a seperate battleground right from the beginning. Playability allways will throw a wrench into Realism here. My suggestion is: keep stairs straight, if there is enough room, each step is a 1inch square, if space is tight make the step 1/2 inch long and provide some kind of mobile stephelper to give those figures a full inch lenght to stand on. For those ladders: keep them simple (and flat) as well, but as seperate Items one can pull up through those trap doors or lean against the wall as a suprise for the defenders. Maybe some stephelpers here as well for those longer ladders that will take some time to climb. Robert
