💥Infants Incoming - Be Prepared!💥

A new patch is coming on Tuesday, March 14th in preparation for the Growing Together Expansion Pack, which is coming on the 16th. This patch will add a whole new lifestage and a whole number of other changes, meaning it has the potential to break a lot of mods. It is unknown to what extent it will, but it is best to assume everything will break, given the track record of Expansion pack patches. There are, however, things you can do to prepare!

Disable Automatic updates in Origin/EA App
First and foremost, if you do not wish to play without mods then the best course of action is to disable automatic updates for the game in Origin or the EA App (whichever one you use):

Origin
Select the Origin button in the top left corner of the screen and click Application Settings
In the screen that comes up, scroll down to find Client Updates, and ensure Automatic Game Updates is turned off.
Then once you have done this, click Origin in the top left corner again, and select Go Offline so it will allow you to play without updating.

EA App
Click the button in the top left corner of the screen that has 3 lines on it, and click Settings
Navigate to the Download section, and from there, ensure that Update games automatically is turned off.
You can then put the app in Offline mode in the same menu that you found Settings.

Help! My game updated, what do I do?

Don't panic, simply move all mods out of your Mods folder to a safe location and wait until they are updated or otherwise cleared by their creator. This includes popular mods such as MCCC. Don't just rely on mods being disabled by the patch.

Luth and Scarlet maintain amazing lists to help you keep track of things:

Luth's broken mods list will be posted in the official forums
Scarlet's broken mods list can be found here

But whatever you do, do NOT:
-
Bug modders to update their mods - they have lives as well outside of modding. They will get to it when they have time.
-Load up your main save with all your mods after patching, then complain in support servers that everything broke and you can't load it as a result.
