2025-09-19 04:09:20 +0000 UTCChapter 42: I had a bit of an issue that knocked me out of my suspension of disbelief. A little earlier in the chapter, calling out that Dan couldn't see anything inside of a pitch black room full of dwellers, but knew they were in there due to hearing the scuttle of feet, setting the scene that its so quiet you can hear the scuttling of the feet. Dan proceeds to whisper to his companions indicating that he knows that they should be quiet. So when Jakob says "The things inside won’t even know we’re here.”, but they follow it up by shattering the vial on the floor. I feel like like the creatures would likely react to hearing the vial shatter. Theres no indication that the shattering of the vial didnt make sounds, that could alert them. Just that they couldn't get the tactical advantage of the ghost light that Team Dan would get. The dwellers might just be higher alert, doesn't mean they would react immediately or know something is up if they hear something shattering on the floor. They end up having time to get a full description of the things hiding in the dark room. Also, it starts with dan whispering, but the rest of the convserstation doesn't indicated that its whispered. And there is a bit of it before they interact/fight the dwellers in the room. feels like a lot of conversation to be happening at the tone of a whisper that started and set the scene.
