Given the majority demographics/culture on 4chan, I believe anything not a straight adult white male as co-protag would be getting flak. And a *realistic* young girl, one who is not a – UGH I hate myself for typing this – loli fuel cardboard cutout, well they would rag on her endlessly no matter what, I'm sure. If it was Mikaila that tagged along, she would be too precocious (Mary SUuuue!) and girly and annoying. If it was Siya she'd be too wimpy and useless and annoying. If it was Sara she'd be too - UGH AGAIN - "slutty" (god forbid a pre-teen has grown some curves, or gets a cute puppy crush) and fussy and annoying. If - you get the drill. Like Jimi said about hating on kids, but it gets mixed with Good Ol' Misogyny for a perfect storm of society at large shitting on (pre)-teen girls. It's apparent in a lot of things, but 4chan in particular would certainly concentrate that kind of sentiment. Well to the darkest, coldest bottom of the oceanic hell with their opinions! They are Freeloaders, unlike us Enlightened Patreon Patrons, so in this house we say Sette is Valid and Deserves Love and That Is All There Is to Say on the Matter. ;P

2021-12-09 02:19:46 +0000 UTCI've recently just become fully aware of the fact that a wide chunk of people just plain hate kids, to the point that even their presence in a fictional sorry makes them dig that story less (or not dig it at all). Especially if that depiction is honest to how kids really behave. I definitely prefer not having that opinion! Sette's really skyrocketed in the past few chapters to possibly my favorite character.

I ultimately don't care what happens to the rest of the world as long as Sette gets to end this series feeling loved.

2021-12-08 23:15:43 +0000 UTCFor Toma & Elka – she's Duane's worry. For Lori – she can just as well go to hell. For Quigs too – pretty much everyone here can, if he's to ask. For Siya & Ruffles – she matters, but they are not Adults and don't get A Say. For Duane... he wants to play an action hero right now. He lost all his care for Sette recently and didn't really have time to reconsider. Even if he's given a sliver of thought to her right now – he probably thought that she'll find a way to protect herself.

2021-12-08 17:03:27 +0000 UTCCool Duane Alert. Careful there, you'll have to pay for it in dorkyness later. But make us proud, Zombie. Sad about Sette here though. Duane leaving her to go and try stopping his brother is the best he can do for -everyone-, but that leaves her alone and feeling abandoned some more, or puts her in terrible danger if she somehow tags along. In a better world, Duane might have given her a small gesture of comfort before running off, but in a better world, things would not have played out this way... Still, I have hope for the relationship between these two. :'(
