Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Rewind [5x05] โœฆ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Comments

There are two things I look forward to when reactors reach this episode: the Hunter reveal, and seeing how long it takes for the reactor to recognise Robin/Polly - out of the reactions I've seen, I think you're the second fastest to realise who they were, just because you seemed to have a little doubt right at the beginning. It's a great tie back to 3x15 to bring in Charles Hinton's daughter, who has a variation of his power to see the future (once again, we see powers reoccur with slight differences each time). This also explains why Hunter doesn't know about her, as he and Bobbi left the show two episodes prior (which also gives a way for the writers to explain the connection for anyone who hadn't already figured it out!). We also finally get a year for where we are in the future - 2091, which along with the 74 years in the future tag pins the 'present' to 2017. The mentions of Robin's power being 'prophecy' fits with all the examples of this power that we've seen thus far (from Raina and Charles) being 'immutable' - what they see will happen - but we can also assume that like before, there is additional context that we're unaware of. The big difference this time is that we also have *actual* time travel in the mix, so is that going to change things? Seems the government hasn't learned from S1/2 - once again, they put everything they confiscated from SHIELD in the same place, and once again, SHIELD were able to infiltrate and steal (some of) it back! It's good that they were able to get permission to keep Nick Blood's name out of the opening credits and save it for the end credits - it's not something that happens all that frequently, so I appreciate the effort here (however I wouldn't be surprised if it was spoiled in the promo for the episode - studios often undermine these things to drum up interest). As I mentioned during the Framework arc last season, Adrianne was busy on The Orville by this time, so wouldn't have been available to make guest appearances. I also like how easily Nick was able to slip back into playing Hunter - he was exactly as he was before he left.

Those are on my list to get to someday!

Movies with KL

The adventures of the Brit and the Scot. I really love their dynamic, especially when they begin to sound like Kingsman agents. If and when you decide to check out the Kingsman movies, youโ€™ll see what I mean.
