On the one hand, it's a translation of a Tainish word so I can choose whatever I want, on the other, I never want to equate any of the Kasslynian countries too directly with any Earth countries.
I saw the new Ghibli film tonight. It was mostly excellent! Usual frustrating Miyazaki ending. In case you don't know anything about it, it features a bird character with a second human head that comes out of its beak - like Lady Ilganyag - so it was trippy to see that animated.

I love the relationship between Lemuel and Duane and all its nuances. Also interesting choice to have Lemuel's face sandwhiched between two encroaching panels while he's screaming about God!

This is all less about his rotting flesh brain - brain death is very fast in humans, mere minutes after the heart stops - and more about a Kasslynian soul not being designed for active cogitation. Duane's living soul kept reaching for its mind and, after a time, new connections grew, new phantom synapses burned into unlife. After a (long) while, he had something even better than his brain. There's no one else like Duane (except maybe Murkoph). Bastion had no idea a soul could do this. It's uncharted stuff. Pretty fantastic though!

If Duane's brain had been removed instead of allowed to rot over the course of a year, would he have become lucid/able to coherently think out of his soul months earlier?
