Here's a question for you, readers: Duane's just given it up, but do you think Murkoph was being truthful about everything supposedly in this gifted memory? He does seem to know some juicy stuff, but to say Duane can even find how to make his way to God? Quite the carrot to promise.
But if it's not true at least to some extent, how's Murkoph know the stuff he states here?

Because one day he had to complete the set of Ssaelit scars, both in penance for slaughtering a cleric and to cover up the vertical scar he already had. And also, since he seems to be a Duane-like zombie, we can surmise he was part of the same Find God plan. In other words, both are his memories from before dying. He's here in the flesh right now though, so clearly something went wrong. He mentioned confoundments, and they are also mentioned as an obstacle in the Ssaelit book. So, presumably, he failed at his mission. Perhaps because Duane is but a ghost he can pass to where Murk couldn't, despite Murk looking like a mode advanced galit physically. That barrier also what's drew him insane I guess.
