Lu described it well, but yes, there is a sense that senet beasts are stuck in the configuration they were made - not only physically, but in terms of their personality. Ruck will always be a selfish predator, Lady Ilganyag will always be a controlling manipulator, Minnow will always be feckless and flighty. These aren't necessarily bad things and you can argue that adult humans are kind of the same. We tend to reach a point in intellectual and emotional development and then camp there until we die. When the idea is applied to senets though, it's talking more about them at large. Humanity can change, and has changed dramatically. Senets as a whole cannot. They remain as they were originally conceived, and they will never evolve. Humans will.

Could Minnow stop being so physically affectionate? Probably no, imo. I think Duane has changed his core "self" more over the course of the comic than any Senet we've seen has changed in the last several hundred years.
