Ruck's not savvy enough to get into this and use it as part of his sales pitch, but it's actually not a terrible idea for Cresce. Most of Alderode is the same religion as Cresce - Gefendur - but they are a different sect of it, one that prioritizes the two male Gefendur gods. If "Yerta" suddenly showed up and refocused the northern Gefendur on worship of her, that would stand to unify Alderode with the southern Gefendur, ending a long age of enmity and war.

Of course the Ssaelit would be toast, but you almost have to break those eggs because it would otherwise save so many lives and ultimately bring peace.

One wonders if these are the gears spinning in her Majesty's head? Or if she's just telling the mad snake what it wants to hear so she can get the hell out of here.

Patreon related: Apple is forcing Patreon to switch to a monthly subscription format, which means new members will now be billed at the beginning of the month, rather than on the date they joined. This is only for new members, I'm pretty sure. If that's not you, nothing should change. If you like to hop around though, that might effect you next time you join. Just a heads up!

I mean, honestly, I imagine this isn't like, too far away from whatever queen's game plan for DK was anyway.

Flyfly

<3 She could be bluffing, but it seems reasonable that she'd have prepared her circle of people to look out for bites. She knows what she's up against.

Ashley

Is Sonorie bluffing here in the last panel? Such an idea isn’t a bad one if you’re working with a ephby. Also, I know I’ve said it before but the concept behind the Etalarche curse is so metal and unique.

jumanji-mongie

I think you're right.

Ashley

happy for ruck on this page, we stan a genderfluid queen

Dr. Badvibes

Oohhh! Exciting! What Maha here has been planning is a big big question and hanging thread… and if she’s big a fan of civil war or genocide… what are her plans for the Ssaeit population? Frightening!

Madison

No matter the strategic considerations, the efheby is too volatile. It's like using explosives as a nice soap because it smells good and so fits the purpose... Dunno, I cannot make a good metaphor. I think she's ready to tell him whatever he wants, but if there was no immediate danger (to her & to Chea here), she would commit to see him dead.

Duke BG

I'm sure that the Aldish Gefendur would accept Yerta suddenly showing up and saying "Yeah, no, Cresce has always been right" with good grace and understanding. No possible way that could turn out badly.

Michael Stakely

It's a shame though that the guys who are supposed to actually carry out this plan are (almost) all toast...

I was extremely sleepy when I looked at this and upon first glance (without reading) thought the last panel was the Queen's hand shaking Ruck's baby hand (queen on right, Ruck on left) That said, excited for this party. I know you mentioned a while back that a lot of people may not like the queen but I really like both her and Nora. Liking someone or not based on their morals is for real people, not for fiction!

Noto

That wasn’t what I expected out of Ruck but he’s certainly liked the idea of being god so it does make sense

Renee

That's a pretty solid outcome for Cresce... if I trusted Ruck to stay the course as far as I could throw him, which is not far because he's a several tonne slab o' worm.

CD

A likely story, ma'am.

Spider

Well, Ruck's revealing here that Sonorie's plan all along was to possess the power of Alderode - to take over the Dammakhert somehow. This isn't super shocking, Shaensigin said that's what investigating the Etalarche curse would lead to. But we also know that Sonorie isn't too much into genocide or excessive loss of life - at least not if she can help it. So inspiring civil war might not be her preference. She might favour something a little more blunt, a little more conclusive.

Ashley

I feel like Ruck will be biting the bullet ere the story's end, but if he incepted Sonorie with this... We know civil war is coming to Alderode. We've seen the (we assume) VITs soldiers attacking Ssaelit... While Sonorie might not have Ruck to help her, might she still try this plan anyway? In a more-- subterfuge-y way...?

Madison

You are terrifyingly excellent at writing morally grey characters, I can never guess which line it is your characters will sell their morals at

Walker Heiling

The page? Probably from the site. The Patreon update took me a little longer because I wrote such a long caption up there :)

Ashley

4chan got this one suspiciously fast, Ashley...
