He's never before thrown up a meal in the middle of an eel-infested khert-fire in such a way that his meal's own hallucination showed up for them both. Why, it's almost like being human. For a second, anyway.

2024-11-11 05:26:40 +0000 UTCAs I understand it, Queen Sonorie saw a reflection of Roger's personality/memories/soul drifting about within Ruck, and got his attention and called to him and his regrets in the hopes this might distract/disrupt Ruck and give her a chance to save Chea and escape. This worked, Roger's emotions overwhelmed Ruck for a moment, and then the intensity of the whole experience caused Ruck to vomit up those memories, which are now interacting with Mallory.

2024-11-11 05:23:58 +0000 UTCI think Ashley explained it quite well : Ruck is carrying around Roger's soul (he wasn't allowed to digest it because the Black Tongues still wanted to study it), and apparently, when seeing Mallory (his former lover), it just had to pop out and say hi to him - which it can only do because of the Khert fire. As to why Mallory is there, I'm afraid this is another case of someone's worst memory showing up to torment them?
