oh no i agree. she obviously means well. also she is rad as hell and my favourite. but her agonising over how shitty humanity is after she just indiscriminately strangled a bunch of them out of sheer rage and grief is hilariously tone deaf in the sort of way that only an ageless eldritch birdbitch can manage although given they were all black tongues maybe it actually was the right move after all.

2024-11-28 03:43:00 +0000 UTCWelp, at the risk of prompting this thesis: •Ilganyag is kind of obviously horrible in what she does •but means well •only she has it in her head that whatever she has to do or tolerate in order to achieve her good intentions is acceptable •which is like, one of the main ways people justify evil. But... I find the idea of a benevolent-if-alien female god favoring those humans more prone to compassion over the more brutal to be a touching thought. I've sometimes thought Christianity might as well call itself the religion of the dead mother; the obvious triad is Father, Mother and Son, but they've replaced with Mother with Holy Ghost, as if they're at war with the feminine principle. Phillip K. Dick used to write about how the problem with our universe is that God has a dead twin sister and he misses her terribly. The idea that a universe with such a being instead of a brutal male sky god demanding blood sacrifice pulling up the strings and yet STILL falling short of being the loving, mutually supporting society we presumably want is heartbreaking and makes me sympathize with Lady I's agonizing here.
