I knooooow what I said on Tumblr, but I hadn't finished drawing the entire page yet, and then I got to the very last panel and the opportunity was THERE so how could I NOT. It doesn't feel exploitive because it's isolated and not sexily framed. All it's doing is punctuating his dehumanization. I mean look at that sign on the wall. These prisoners are not being treated with compassion.
Anyway, good luck, Captain. We'll catch up with you in the future? Or perhaps you'll die down here, tortured to death for the satisfaction and closure of the many people whose lives you wrecked by sacking their city. I wanted to show some of them watching this through a window, but it didn't gel quite right with what's before and after. We'll do our last scene next, with the kids.
So man, Kickstarter today! I won't lie, it was harrowing. I'm bad at self-promotion, and the perpetual nagging of reposting the link is probably rough for you to see and it's rough for me to do. I want to make my publisher proud though, so it'll continue for the next few weeks on social media. Please ignore me! I apologise for being annoying!
But that's just my dumb ass whining-- Thank you everyone who pledged! The thing was funded so frigging quickly that I thought the site was erroring out or was checking the wrong dashboard. It's already almost at 70k which is just baffling. That's less than 24 hours and it's almost at the TOTAL of what my last KS was. It's neat to think of us getting new friends and readers. I hope people unfamiliar with the comic will see it trending, and give it a try :)
I'd really appreciate any reposts, reblogs, retweets, or simple link spreading! Thank you, lovelies :) It'll be over soon haha (kill me)
