She’s talking about someone who betrayed her, delivering her to someone who would hurt her and functionally refusing to help when she needed it— Who was later destroyed (though Sette wasn’t conscious to watch that bit and probably didn’t have the same visceral experience as Duane would have..) It’s sort of in line with her tendencies to not hold grudges against underlings following orders, rather finding duplicity impressive, I guess? Lady I. described something along the lines of how their shared soul meant they complete each other and so it’s natural for Sette to feel at home and at rest near him.. Which does lend itself to some clarity as to why First Sette and Jac would still be together in spite of everything that’s happened; they’re hard wired in a way that would force kinship and help to prevent either from skirting their fate (Sette might talk about leaving but Jac is chatting with mamma bird in the background). Hm.. Okay, actually, I like that. Sette’s reaction here feels very un-Sette-like, which makes sense given her and Jac are built around a coerced fate. (Also, writing this I realized it’s also how she treats her Da, who is violently abusive. That she loves family members could be automatic and Jac’s acts against her make him familiar. I’m curious as to why Lady I. wasn’t included here, possibly because she isn’t ingrained in the same way the First Soul and Jacs are.. Then again, Sette’s now being rather empathetic towards the bird’s plight. … Wait, it’s Sette we’re talking about and she’s trying to convince Jivi into helping her find her Jac. Of course she’d be trying to talk him up, even if her opinion of him isn’t that great. (Poor Boo. I wonder if Sette will try making a new one, or visit them later on.)
