Probably the reason why she keeps up the - to us obvious - lie that she only visits the dreams of foals ^^.

It’s a good thing Equestria is such a nice place ruled by benevolent ponies. Otherwise, an immortal ruler who can visit you in your dreams and read your mind would be pretty scary. Even with a good-hearted ruler like Luna it must be pretty awkward knowing that somepony can watch you while you’re having an awkward, naughty or embarrassing dream. ^^

Exactly, and I think it's rather likely that she can read the dreamers mind, at least at a basic level. I you consider the nature of a dream then she has the ability to not only interact with your subconscious mind but even alter it. She could probably pull off some serious levels of horseception if she wanted to.

Almost exactly what I was thinking. I’m giving Luna the benefit of doubt and say that it’s the real Tempest. But how could Thistle know that it's not an illusion Luna made up on the spot? She can’t even ask Tempest questions only these two would know, because how can she be sure that Luna can’t read her mind/thoughts? Sure, we know that Luna (probably) can’t read the minds of other ponies but would the average Equestrian know what Alicorns are capable off? ;)

At first I thought 'Nice workaround for the question of how Luna would know the exact details of their little romp' ... buuutt, it doesn't really explain anything. We know Luna planned this, so it's possible she manipulated Tempest's dreamscape beforehand and then linked it to Thistle's. Maybe even Twilight's. It's easily within her power to do that so it's possible these are the "real" Tempest and Twilight reliving the memory in a shared dream. But with Luna in full control of this dream it's just as possible that she's simply tricking Thistle. Tempest's reaction sure seems convenient. And there are many scenarios in which Luna could've accidentally or deliberately 'witnessed' these events. So even if she's tricking Thistle this could still be a faithful recreation of what actually happened between them. So which is it and is it going to matter later in the story ...
