Weekly Update #148

Blagh. You know, everything is ready to go. I uploaded LDQ to Amazon and hit publish early Saturday morning. It was expected to take between 6 and 24 hours to be accepted and available for purchase after putting so many hours into getting it ready. I was nervous as fuck but also hyped as fuck.

And then Amazon told me that because there was a previous infringement claim on the content (due to me reporting it when somebody pirated LDQ and uploaded it on their own), I had to prove who I was. I had to submit proof that I'm the real author in a way other than just going "hey I'm the real author please approve it."

So now that's going to take up to 5 days for them to maybe decide my evidence is good enough.

I'm... just extremely disappointed. Don't get me wrong, Amazon isn't in the wrong here. I'm not disappointed in them. If anything, it's great that they're going through these steps in order to protect my work after previously having to report it. My problem is with whichever little cunt who decided to pirate my shit in the first place.

I was already against piracy back when I first started writing, but oh fucking boy, let me tell you. This whole thing has just radicalized me against piracy even more. I'm tempted to just not even release chapters for free anymore and to go exclusively Patreon and Amazon instead. At least then anybody who wants to pirate my shit would have to pay me first.

I probably won't do that, though. Not soon at least. I have too many projects coming up that are extremely dependent on posting chapters for free with censored hentai artwork and then baiting them to Patreon if they want to see the full, uncensored art to go with the lewd chapters.

Anyways, yeah. I'm trying my fucking best here to get LDQ published by the end of the month like I said it would be, but the ball is entirely in Amazon's court now. I gave them proof of who I am about 30 hours ago. They replied 5 hours ago telling me the process might take up to 5 days.

Let me tell you, all the excitement of publishing has just been completely erased and replaced with overwhelming disappointment. I've got like 15 Chrome tabs open right now. I have free chapters ready to post to RR, SH, and my website that have announcements in the chapter notes for Amazon. I have a special update post ready for Patreon here. I have Discord and Twitter announcements ready. All of these things are ready to go and I can hit submit on them the second the story is available. They've all been ready for nearly 48 hours now. All I can do now though is just... wait. And I hate that that's all I can do.

Moving on. I planned on writing and posting more of the tentacles story and TQH's reboot yesterday. But, because I was kind of just extremely pissed off yesterday after first getting that email about needing to verify who I am, I ended up sleeping all day since my brain felt like shutting down and going "fuck it" to everything. Then I ended up writing about 8k of the tentacles story today since I had the most muse for it.

I got started on more TQH chapters, but I'm too tired and burnt out for now that I need a couple days off.  I just want to go to sleep, wake up, and play some more RimWorld. I promise to post more TQH chapters before anything else this week. The first one is already almost done.

The True Endgame

I don't have much to say for the stories other than the tentacle one this week since I just want to sleep. But anyways, I'm excited to show some more proper troll-y Fenrir. The DB weren't just annoying griefers, they were also massive trolls, and it's time to show that off!

And that's another character from before now back in the series. These latest two characters to make appearances won't be the only ones from the original series to show up in this volume, either. Honestly, you should probably expect everybody else yet to show up to show up in this volume.

Lazy Dragon Queen

That latest chapter was actually the last one for the volume since I'm going to try and keep the volumes a consistent length now. So, onto volume 4! Well, it's actually going to be more like volume 5 once I reorganize earlier volumes/chapters.

Unnamed Tentacle Story

I talked about this in Discord a little, but at this point, I think I'm comfortable not really calling the story a smut. Even though I fully intend on there being heavy doses of lewds once the lewds actually start rolling, it's really not a smut. Sex is not the main point of the series by far. EDO isn't even really a smut/erotica because, again, sex isn't the main point. The characters and their relationships are the main point. All the sex is just a bonus. Even the absolute smuttiest story idea I can think of that more or less revolves around sex... the actual written sex still isn't the main point. The characters still are.

I felt a little bit guilty at first about how long it 's taking to get to the sex considering it was supposed to be a smut, but that's fucking stupid. Why should I feel guilty about potentially not meeting somebody's ideal standard for what smut is when I'm otherwise 100% happy with how the story is turning out? I'm genuinely loving the story so far and the direction that it's taking. Is it slower paced than I thought it would be? Yeah. Is it not as sexual? Yeah. But do I love the story, the characters, and how it's turning out? Abso-fucking-lutely. So, who cares if it's not as smutty as intended? I love it so far and I love writing it. I'm probably even going to prioritize it a little bit over TQH since I'm honestly just having more fun with it than anything else at the moment. I'm still going to work on TQH's reboot, just I'll be working even more on this until it's out and ready to go.

So yeah. Even when I try to live up to my reputation as a smut author, I fail because the smut just straight up isn't the point of even my most erotic stories. I love the characters and their relationships too much to make the sex more important than them. That's pretty much true of all my series. Like, let me tell you. I have another series I'm working on bit by bit behind the scenes. It sounds as smutty as it fucking can and literally starts with a guy going on a journey to masturbate in as many unique locations as possible. Even so, the main point is still the characters, their relationships, and their psyches with what sex is to them rather than the sex itself. The sex itself is just a vehicle, not the destination.

In Closing

I think I'm officially not a smut author at this point. I don't know why it took me so long to really realize this, but I'm a romance writer. Pretty much all my stories meet the actual definitions for romance more than anything else. Other than that, fuck pirates, and not in the lewd way.
