Weekly Update #178
Added 2021-10-26 00:31:57 +0000 UTCBlagh, sorry for the bad schedule last week. Everything was going pretty good until the weekend, and then it was just a huge combination of being busy and feeling sick. Had to go to Ikea on Saturday which is an hour and a half away to get bookshelves, then said bookshelves had to be assembled (which my girlfriend did since she wanted to, but I wasn't really able to write during that whole process and didn't feel good once I was able to write), then I was doing good on Sunday and planned on getting EDO and TTE done, but only got EDO done and then felt like I had food poisoning coming on, so I wasn't able to complete TTE. Fortunately, I didn't have food poisoning. I just ate too much. Really thought I was about to start vomiting all over the place, though.
That aside, I'm posting TTE and DE as soon as this update is published. Both of those are already done. However, I'm going to count TTE as this week's chapter rather than last week's chapter just because I really want to try and get ahead of my writing. I need to get myself back to actually taking the weekends off instead of trying to work all the way through them like I have been the past couple of months. So, I'm going to count TTE as this week's chapter just to lighten the load a bit since it's already Monday and to improve my odds of getting everything done by Saturday. Then I can, gasp, actually take a couple of days off from writing. If you look at my worksheet below you'll see just how erratic my days off have been lately.
As for The Dungeon Hound and The Tentacles' Tavern, here's the thing. I know what I can do with both of the series to keep them moving forward. But, I feel like I could make them so much better if I rebooted them. So it's kind of like--here's the issue with web serials. When you're writing a normal novel that you're not publishing to the internet, you're not harming anybody by rebooting and rewriting it as many times as you want. You can throw out 1,000 pages and nobody will blink an eye because nobody has read it. You can reboot it 20 times and only ever publish the 21st version and nobody will know or discredit you for it.
But with web serials, doing what is generally seen as a perfectly normal and healthy thing to do when writing becomes a negative thing that gets associated with the author. People are less likely to see it as rebooting a series to improve it and are more likely to see it as an author dropping their work or going on hiatus. I've already rebooted TQH as TDH. If I do it again, that's going to lose even more of people's faith in me. I've had quite a few people unpledge from this Patreon citing the reason as believing that I'm never going to finish a story because I keep "dropping" them. I would like to think that EDE -> EDO is a good case to prove that I'm not a serial rebooter who gets stuck in rewrite hell and isn't able to finish anything (I plan on EDO finishing within 2 volumes at its current pace, though TTE, LDQ, and DE are a way's away from a finish), but that doesn't matter. What matters is that rebooting things makes me look sloppy in the eyes of readers and potential patrons, which makes people less likely to support me, and I am kind of dependent on Patreon.
So, that's where I'm at with those stories. I believe both TDH and TTT could be better. My plans for TTT are a bit more vague and still in the idea stage but, in regard to TDH, what I think would be the best is basically combining TQH and TDH together. Go back to LitRPG instead of (poorly) slapped on Gamelit, keep the increased horniness of everybody, have Woofen go back to starting off as a bit of an edgy older guy but have him quickly realize how great it is to be treated like a puppy, and most importantly... get the fuck out of the dungeon. At this point, I firmly believe that my number one issue with both attempts at writing TQH/TDH is throwing the MC into a dungeon. Now, I would still start with a dungeon probably, but a small dungeon. A dungeon where the end is reached within a single volume instead of having it dragged out over multiple volumes. I want to get back the action and stats of TQH while keeping the characters and horniness levels of TDH.
Now, mind you, this isn't me officially announcing a reboot or anything. Maybe I'll continue TDH and TTT as they are now. It's just, I genuinely believe they're going to be better stories if I start over with them again.
Thankfully, TTE, EDO, LDQ, and DE are all safe from that. DE just needs me to fix the first couple of chapters but is fine aside from that, much to the dismay of everybody who would love for me to write it in a completely different way.
Anyways, time to move on to the rest of the weekly update.

Ero Dungeon Online
Time to give Meadow some love! She kind of disappeared there at the end of the last volume, so I want to give her some attention. Then Thera, of course. Can't go without our favorite spiders.
Lazy Dragon Queen
Poor Drake. He was so close to living life out as a hentai protagonist, but now he's back with everybody else again which means he has to play more games, be a father, and all that other boring stuff that isn't just having sex all day every day.
Dominion Expansion
Some people get it. Some people don't get it. That's all I really have to say about the story this week. Unfortunately, it would appear that those who don't get it are in the majority, and even among the people who do get it, there are still many who just don't like the sense of humor. Honestly, if I just changed Clay's character, the story would be so much more popular than it is and have a way higher rating, but I really do love how Clay is as a protagonist and have no intention of changing him.
In Closing
I hope you're ready for email spam because that's what you're about to get from me. Well, just four emails in total, and only if you're a $10 or higher patron. If you're below that, I think this is the only one you'll get an email for.
Anyways, thank you again for your continued support! I hope that you all have a great spooky season since--oh, actually, as long as I get everything done on time, I'll be able to post another weekly update before the month is over. I'll wish you a good Halloween and stuff then instead of now in that case.
So, until next time! Thank you once again and please look forward to this week's chapters!
