Weekly Update #210

So, last update, I talked about posting my new series probably this week, but I've decided to wait until next weekend instead. Why? Because I want to drop a whole book at once on you fuckers. At this point, I'm already 34.5k words into it. That's about half the length of a whole book, and that was written... pretty much entirely in the last week. How did I manage to write half of a book in one week? Where did all this muse come from? Why am I suddenly writing as much as I used to back when I first started? Fuck if I know. I wish I could always be this productive. I wrote between 5k and 10k words pretty much every single day this week. I've just been extremely inspired for this new series and writing it has been really fun, refreshing, and easy.

That being said, I will give you some ideas on what it's like just to give you something to look forward to.

For starters, it's a very light LitRPG. No status tables, just bolded text, no skills, no levels, etc. Very, very simple. Why? Because it's basically Terraria. I can't understate just how much it's basically Terraria. While I plan on the series becoming more unique over time... yeah, as you'll see, it's basically Terraria with the bare minimum done to (hopefully) avoid any potential copyright issues. And if you've played Terraria before, you know that it's pretty light when it comes to how complex the system is. You get health, mana, can level them up to a max pretty simply, and then you get armor, weapons, and accessories. No skills. No fancy stats to level up. None of that.

Aside from Terraria, there is also inspiration from Rune Factory 4 in it alongside some inspiration from Rimworld, but the Rimworld stuff won't really be relevant until later on. As of writing this update, it's 98% Terraria, 2% Rune Factory 4.

It's also a harem, of course, and it's going to be another huge one like LDQ, but this first volume is only really going to have one, probably two, waifus introduced.

That aside, I'll say this: I feel like the story is extremely generic. Is that a good thing? A bad thing? I don't know. Even though I love it so far and am having a ton of fun with it, it absolutely feels generic. I'm not going to try to make it not feel generic because that would be changing my vision for it, but it is what it is. I have ideas and plot plans for how to make it much less generic, but that's going to be coming in later, maybe get teased in bit in this first volume's latter half. But for now, it has isekai, litrpg, fighting, adventuring, crafting, romancing, a boss fight, a bit of mystery, and one very, very long tongue.

Take LDQ but make it be serious and have actual plot in the Terraria world, and you've basically got this new series. Don't expect anything too crazy or fancy. If anything, set any potential hopes as low as possible so that it'll be impossible for you to be disappointed if it turns out shit. If you have zero hopes for it, then your response to it can only go up from there.

But yeah. I'm hoping to have the first volume finished by next weekend, and I'll upload the whole thing at once. Or maybe I'll split it into two halves just so the Patreon post isn't too massive. The first half of the book next Saturday and the second half of it next Sunday. I don't know, we'll see.

But for now, memes 'nd things:

34 hours, 28,801 words. That's just from four Tuesday - Friday since I counted Monday in the last weekly update since I did the update after typing for Monday. Though, if I did count Monday for this week, I'd go up to 39 hours and 38,002 words which is pretty awesome.

Here's to having even bigger hours and total wordcount in the next update!

The True Endgame

This latest chapter was a bit of a between-arcs chapter, so it was a bit on the short side and not much happened other than trying to give Saya bit more depth, and this next arc is going to be mainly focused on dealing with the End Bringers to wrap up the volume with.

Ero Dungeon Online

Damian is totally cheating, but that's okay. Anyways, as soon as he becomes champion, this volume is pretty much over and then we're going to focus on resolving everything else that was set up. So, this next chapter will probably be the last one for this volume. If not the next chapter then the one after it.

Lazy Dragon Queen

While on the note of ending volumes, Drake really needs to wrap this one up, but that cannot be done until all the fluff has been acquired. All of it. And given what the theme for the next zone is going to be... what's he going to do when there are no longer any fluffy enemies or waifus to gain?

Dominion Expansion

Now it's time for the tabletop game! I've never written a tabletop game out before as a chapter, so this should be a fun experience, I hope.

In Closing

Whew, I'm actually getting this update done for the weekend instead of waiting until the last minute on Monday like recently. Really, I just wanted to get the PDFs uploaded and this weekly update typed up and out so that I could focus on writing my new story without that nagging feeling of "wait, you still have to do the update, just pause this real quick to go do that," which results in neither things getting done because my brain is stupid.

Anyways, thank you for your continued support, and please look forward to this week's chapters as well as a whole book next weekend! The first book of the new series will be available in its entirety to all patrons next weekend unless some unexpected events pop up or something, and then I'll set up some proper tiers for it after that. Anyways, until next week!
