Installation Instructions

Find below the instructions on how to install and deinstall BepInEx and my plugins, so that they will automatically be loaded when you run VAM.

If you follow step 1) to 4), you will also be able to check if BepInEx is working for you, before you decide whether you want to subscribe to my patreon or not.

Installation

1) Download the latest x64 (64 bit) version of BepInEx from GitHub:

https://github.com/BepInEx/BepInEx/releases

The file name is, for instance: BepInEx_x64_5.4.23.2.zip (as of April 2025)

2) Extract the BepInEx zip file to your VAM-Installation Directory (where the VaM.exe and VaM_Updater.exe are located), so that your VAM-Directory looks like below.

Important:
Please make sure that the BepInEx directory, as well as the "doorstop_config.ini" and "winhttp.dll" files have been properly added to your VaM directory.

4) Start VAM once, to see if BepInEx has been loaded.

If BepInEx has been loaded, it will create the subdirectories in the BepInEx directory, such as the „plugins“ subdirectory and will also create a log file „LogOutput.log“ in which you can check whether any plugins have been loaded and if there were any errors.

Checking if BepInEx is running correctly
If the log file „LogOutput.log“ was created when you run VAM, then my plugins should also work for you.

If the log file „LogOutput.log“ has not been created, then you might have extracted BepInEx into the wrong directory and my plugins will therefore not be loaded! Please double-check your VaM directory and male sure that the BepInEx files are present as seen in the screenshots above. Please also have a look at the FAQs to see if you can resolve the issue.

If you have installed all of my Plugins from April 2025, then the „LogOutput.log“ should look like this:

To check whether BepInEx will work with your VAM installation, please try out my free plugin: VR Laser Pointer Colors. With this, you can safely test if BepInEx is working for you, before deciding whether you want to subscribe to my patreon or not.

Adding my plugins

5) Extract my plugins that you downloaded from my patreon site to your VAM-Installation Directory (where the VaM.exe and VaM_Updater.exe are located). It should look like below. The plugins will automatically be loaded and will be active once you run VAM again.

Deinstallation of single Plugins

If you want to deinstall a single one of my plugins, go to your Virt-A-Mate installation directory and open the BepInEx \ plugins subdirectory. Delete the plugins' .dll file that you don't want to use anymore.

Deinstallation of BepInEx and all of my plugins

If you want to completely deinstall BepInEx and all of my plugins, delete the following files and directories in your Virt-A-Mate installation directory:

This will completely and cleanly remove BepInEx and all of my plugins from your VAM installation.

Always use the latest version of VaM and the latest version of BepInEx

My plugins are always created and updated for the latest version of VaM and the latest version of BepInEx, currently: 5.4.23.2 I haven't tested my plugins with the BepInEx 6.0.0-pre version, therefore please use BepInEx 5.4.23.2 with my plugins. Tested with the new release of my Plugins in April 2025.
