Future Story
Added 2025-05-16 13:58:05 +0000 UTCHello there,
As I'm rather burned out from writing the hexalogy that is Cultivating Plants (and the next story I have planned is a ennealogy), I thought about giving you all the chance to select the future story from a selection of ones that are way shorter (though still long).
All choices are still rough ideas (both the synopsis and the title) but they should give you all an approximate idea. I have put the title alongside the expected length and the tags such a story would have.
The Veil (3 Books), Superpowers, Modern World, Drama, Sci-fi:
The world changed with the emergence of powers.
When a mysterious figure, known as The Veiled One, appeared before a single human in Finisterre at the dawn of the new millennium, humanity changed forever. People around the world began to exhibit strange powers and abilities, becoming known as the Veiled Ones. However, most of these powers emerged in the Iberian Peninsula, specifically in Finisterre. Decades have passed, and humanity is still struggling to adapt to these new abilities.
The year is 2024, and the city of Finisterre, the capital of the Veiled people, is undergoing new changes. More Veiled Ones are emerging, some noble and kind-hearted, while others are corrupt and psychotic. Heroes, villains, renegades, and civilians alike will experience drastic changes in their lives as destiny unfolds.
Hector, a Veiled teenager with the ability to see images across space and time, has a revelation that his sister is in danger, but as he sets out to save her, he is greeted by an even darker revelation.
The end of the world as we know it.
How will he deal with this revelation with his curious abilities? Will knowledge be able to be power?
(Author note: this is the most defined story of the bunch, and you have to expect more Worm and The Perfect Run than the Boys or DC/Marvel)
Growing Rifts (1 book) Sci-fi, Modern World, Military, Action:
When a psychic alien empire tears open a rift in the fabric of reality and invades Earth, humanity scrambles to hold the line. The invaders are frail in body but devastating in mind, commanding cognitomechanical war machines that defy the known laws of physics. Earth's forces barely stave off annihilation, thanks to sheer resilience and the limited gateways into Earth. In a critical aerial battle, a lone Earth pilot executes maneuvers so extreme they annihilate multiple alien mechas. The aliens, baffled, believe they’ve found Earth’s first psionic.
They haven’t.
What they’ve found is something far worse.
The pilot isn’t gifted. He’s cursed with a reckless biology, a mind that doesn’t black out under force, and a soul wired for destruction. When the aliens abduct him to study this “genetic anomaly,” their intentions are scientific: create a hybrid supersoldier, a peacekeeper to end the war.
But the pilot isn’t interested in peace.
Behind his calm eyes is a hunger for carnage. And when he earns the trust of a rebellious alien princess, heir to a crumbling monarchy desperate to transition into democracy, the turns that trust into a weapon. Together, they abandon diplomacy and ignite the great war ever seen.
(Author note: Inspired by Mass Effect, Alnoah.Zero, and a bit of Gundam)
Agatha & Christie (2-3 books), Magic, Academy, Drama, Romance, Tragedy, Slice of Life
Gemstones are wealth, but agates are power.
Those who consume agates might unleash their magic and summon stones that bend to their wield, the so-called mages. Only the richest of society can afford the best agates, but one thing is constant, most people will always be able to control a handful of agates. Not more, not less.
Agatha is daughter to an impoverished seamstress with a single agate to her name. Cristina is daughter to a nouveau riche and she boasts the a sea of agates in her body. One is bright and eager to eat the world regardless of her limitations. Another just wants to go unnoticed even if condition doesn't allow so.
Both girls intend into enrolling on the most prestigious magic academy of the kingdom to become mages, one intending to convert her single agate into the most powerful gemstone ever whilst the other just wants her overflowing gemstones to stop hurting people. These opposites, though, will quickly find out that maybe there is more than magic in life.
(Author note: curious magic system where people manipulate agates to perform magic, either through literally commanding the stones or transforming them into special phenomena)
Grand Via (3? books), Magic, Reincarnation, Academy, Comedy?, Romance?
Grand Via is a text-based videogame famed by its branching paths and many endings, a game where every choice matters and death can hid on every corner. The objective is simple, survive the blood moon and obtain one of the many Vias, the paths of power. Which route will you take? The Light Via of justice? The Void Via of selfishness? The Arcane Via of rectitude?
Well, choices now matter not because after having died, now he is found reincarnated as Stella Paradigma. Who was he? That matters not. Only that she is now the eminence in the shadows of the Arcane and Chaos Via routes and that Stella's future is one filled with much death as the protagonist. If she wants to survive she has to make sure that the protagonist choses the Chaos Via, Stella's element, in order to maximize her chances of survival.
But... things are not as expected or seem. For some reason, the protagonist is the girl version from the expansion pack and all the normal routes constantly come crashing down. As many choices and endings Grand Via offered to the player, new ones keep popping up, and they might mark both Stella's and the protagonist's death!
(Author note: This is a story that I had stuck in my mind for a while and can't say how long it will be, but it has one of the most absurd, devasting, and mind-boggling plot twists I have ever thought. The kind that makes people drop a story.)
Grace (1-2 books), Magic, Historical?, Drama, Tragedy, Political, Multiple POV
Her Divinity is the saviour of the world, the one true god revered by the two people: the dekoi, tall, slender, pale people that live in caves hidden from Her Sun; and the alns, short, sturdy, and dark people who actively embrace the blinding star She has created.
The world survives by her will alone, and everyone knows it, but after milenia of silence, she has given a command. She is too have a descendant. For that she commands that it must be one of dekoi and aln blood.
Adai is a weak-willed man who was been constantly prosecuted because of his mixed blood, yet one day he is kidnapped and brought to Her Divinity herself in order to be Her consort. But he cannot bring himself to carry such an important position as he is too inferior to Her superior self. Unable to carry his duties as a stallion, he will adopt the true role of consort by ruling Her lands until he considers himself worthy of Her Divinity.
Sunar is a manwhore who ends up in more than a maiden's bed every week. Her Divinity commands them to give love to the world, after all. As he slowly gathers the Grace's of maidens and accrudes massive power for a backwater aln, the grim reality of the reign of Her Divinity's becomes apparent. The clergy collects the Grace of people in the name of keeping the world alive, yet the farmlands keep getting drier and more children starve to death. Sunar decides it is time to stop thinking with his crotch and use all those Graces he has accumulated to finally bring justice to this withering world.
(Author note: Grace is a magic system that is sexually transmitted, as such there is a lot of nuance and bad actors. Have this in mind.)
I have even more stories, but either I don't have the whole concept fully fleshed out or they would be too long, which is what I'm trying to avoid.
Feel free to comment your thoughts on these stories.

I would say it's my favorite, but it's a close one. Grace is my favorite, but the story is rather crass, so it muds things a bit. But yeah, those two are the more Epsilon-like magic systems that you have seen already.
