Newsletter: week of Dec. 1st

Hello from a plane barreling towards Mexico City! Hannah and I are en route to our favorite city to eat through for a wedding, so if you have any must-sees, do let us know. Personally, I never miss the opportunity to watch some Lucha Libre.

In case you missed it, I posted a Q&A video yesterday and a behind-the-scenes Patreon exclusive look at my filming and editing process. I also learned I won a RØDE Creator Award in the tech and gear category! This one feels especially special because it's the first award I have received as a solo creator. And it would not be possible without your continued support. So, thank you.

Ok, now onto all the content I consumed this week.

Things I read:

I am very happy to see an uptick in location-tracking discourse, but I worry that, at this point, we are fighting a fire with a squirt gun. Related is this video from Wired, in which the team was able to map visitors going to and from Jeffrey Epstein's private island.

True crime in real-time.

This article got me thinking about what I would choose. The phone is absolutely the Pixel 9 Pro because its redesign is flawless. I'm leaning towards the Nikon Z6 III for the camera because it provides a lot of power (60K 60FPS!) at a very competitive price. Let me know in the comments what you would pick! And tune into this episode of PetaPixel's podcast to hear my 2025 camera prediction.

Things I watched:

I love an origin story, especially one with a nice little metaphor.

Hannah and I went down an SNL rabbit hole last night, but this skit has always been a personal favorite.

I mentioned that I don't rely on ANC in earbuds as much as I did when I was living in NYC full-time in my Q&A video. So when this popped up on my feed, I tuned right in. Those nwm ONE have my attention!

Things I listened to:

With that, I'll see you all next week for more tech, more BTS, and a whole lot about Sony's RX100 IV.

Have fun in Mexico!

If you eat at the airport before check in, I would recommend ”Taco Grill”, it was a bit expensive, but delicious tacos!
