September 18, 2017: Game Design and Translation Report

Today, I've finished a sex scene and made gotten 1/3 the way through the Goldol side story. 

And I've also spent a lot of time thinking about design today. Currently, new game plus doesn't offer really any specific new challenges, and I want to change that. Expanding onto the Princess Mode difficulty setting, I plan to have Princess Mode make every enemy in New Game Plus an actual challenge against someone who is carrying over all their stats.

Now here is where I run into a game design question. I figure most of the people who play Meltys Quest will play in in kogal mode so they can get the sex scenes asap. But what of the people who pay $20 and want a harder gameplay experience to come along with the price tag? Even if those people only account for 10% or realistic like 1% of the anyone who will play Meltys Quest. Should I follow the World of Warcraft school of game design and not waste my time designing content that only 1% of the playerbase will experience?

No. I'm not going to do that. Mostly because I want to provide a better gameplay experience for anyone seeking one, and also because I don't think it would add too much work. I might be wrong, it could be a shit ton of work to implement, but then that just means it's a version 1.1 or 1.2 type of thing where I add it in post release. 

So I want Princess Mode New Game Plus to be something where if a player is looking for it, they will find new challenges to enjoy. There won't be sex scenes or plot exclusive to PMNGP, because the idea to let all sex scenes be accessible to anyone regardless, but there will be PMNGP exclusive gameplay content including costumes.
