Added 2024-05-10 12:37:16 +0000 UTCAhoy Delos Tribe, we are beyond happy to present to you our much anticipated arrival back into the Tuamotus, specifically the truly magical atoll of Raroia. This is now our third time here (We stopped here last year between the Marquesas and Society Islands, then on our way back to the Marquesas, and now on our way back to the Society Islands again) and honestly the third time really is a charm…don’t get us wrong, we fell in love instantly the first time we arrived, but after spending months in the Marquesas (which was a very tough time for us and our sanity) this felt like we had died and gone to cruiser heaven…this place truly is the epitome of everything we look for in a destination, and the pure bliss and excitement we felt on our arrival was next level. We hope we can share some of the love, energy, sunshine, and incredible high vibes with you on this beautiful Friday!
And in other super exciting news, we are actually writing this out and scheduling this post a day early because we are officially ON OUR WAY TO AUSTRALIA! We really cannot wrap our minds around this…after so many years of imagining, planning, and dreaming, it’s actually happening! It’s gonna be looong road ahead, but this definitely feels like a giant first step. Besides just how cool it is that we are going to be building our dream boat, we are also looking forward to a little bit of a change and a challenge. After so many years on Delos, sailing and the problems we encounter have become pretty second nature for us…(of course we get our fair share of curve balls that keep us on our toes 😂 ) But we are actually really looking forward to diving in to something totally new and out of our depth…challenging ourselves, learning new skills, gaining new perspectives, making mistakes. We look forward to sharing it ALL with you too!

One of the things you and crew did for all those years was bring to light environmental issues, conservancy, and even societal concerns all around the world. I know you will be grinding (literally) in the yard for long hours but I hope you will be able to enlighten us with those issues that QLD and Australia are experiencing?

I notice that everything is tacked together and waiting for Kazza to get to work welding up all that aluminum. It would be interesting to see how many linear feet of welding will be required. That's one of the figures I used to estimate welding costs in our fab shop.
