Hey hey friends! We're back with this week's timelapse! Apologies this one is a bit delayed, we had a few little holdups on the last one which I will tell you all about in the video, but anyway now we are all back in business! This week's timelapse has a lot of the action actually happening outside as we wheel the plates, so to fill some of the parts where there's not a lot to see, I decided it would be fun to answer some of your questions we've been receiving lately. Also, we are just under 2 weeks away until the big flipping day! Hey David- Yes I think we will probably do a two pronged solution. There is a particular type of paint Petit Vivid that is supposed to work on metal hulls and the ultrasonic system we put on Delos should work quite well for the hard stuff also.

Hey Brian! Have you thought about what you intend to do about sea growth on the bottom? We have watched many of the Delos 1.0 episodes where you have to bring the spin brush down below only after a few months! Given the metal hull, would it be a good option for an ultrasonic or electronic solution or is that even available?

Hey Todd- the water tank will actually be coated with a 2-part paint for drinking water. Also you can get some reactions with the aluminum if you put in city water that has chemicals, chlorine, etc. so the food grade paint protects both....

Is the end of next year the published YT video timeline or actual real time timeline? Surely it does not take that long to build a boat like 2.0. What am I missing?

IS THE TOP BEING MADE AT THIS TIME? HOW ABOUT THE STILL? I THINK THE STILL IS NEAT ALONG WITH WATER FROM SEA TO FREASH WATER ALSO NEAT THESE TWO ON BOARD WE CAN SERVIVE.

I guess there are pros and cons to both but have you considered a plastic fuel tank? My understanding is that todays plastic tanks are better for corrosion than alumn.?

Hey Brian, my concern rose when you said the bottom of the water tank is the bottom aluminum skin. Having aluminum in contact with your drinking water cannot be good. If it were me, I'd try to line the interior surface with a sheet of copper, just to remove that concern.

About your back .... and the tanks as part of the hull. Bad Back: I have had muscle spasms in the back since a teen that are like a cold that lasts days! I found if you lay on your back and pull your knees into your chest with your arms .....and sort of roll on you back head to feet ..... it pulls your spine out and may relieve the situation. In Full Ice Hockey Gear (Men's League) I had to do that on the ice as my back tensed up. Try it. If it works ... my bill is ..... .............. On the tanks being a part of the hull, Battleships and Carriers of the Line had double hulls to make torpedo's explode outside the ship. Very handy then to minimise damage and protect inside. Could you place a premade membrane INSIDE the tanks? That would make sure a side collision that ruptured a seam might leave the liquid inside the tank. An access plate instead of a typical filler/cap would make replacement easy. As usual the rambling of a mad-man! Please note that I am NOT a Doctor OR a Ship Designer. (P.S. good call on the lifting rings left on.

If I recall, Maggie was 5083 as well, so it’s an alloy you’re at least somewhat familiar with. That must be pleasing with how long Maggie has lasted given her rough duties.

Awesome guys! On the rolled hull plates, horizontal striations are visible. I'd imagine this is from the rolling process itself. Can you feel these? Is the plan to ultimately grind and fair them off? With my steel hull the plates rolled smoothly, is this an inherent part of rolling aluminum?

Progress is being made! Thanks for answering my environment questions. What seems odd is how warm it is. But since the work site is about half way up Australia then I guess it would be like winter in North Carolina, maybe? But it still seems like it should be colder since Earth is a bit farther from the Sun during the southern hemisphere's winter. The opposite is true about summer in the southern hemisphere. Earth is closer to the Sun then.
