Aw, thank you! Yeah, this is one movie I'll never forget. And Karras' actor killed it. That's so interesting about his audition.
2023-07-17 02:51:51 +0000 UTCThe demon, Pazuzu, was the same that Father Merrin expelled during his month-long exorcism in Africa. The whole beginning is him having a premonition of facing it again and that is why when you can hear it speaking backwards it speaks his name and says it needs time, as it waits for him. The actor who played Karras, Jason Miller, was a relatively unknown actor who, as a lapsed Catholic, saw himself in the role and begged the director for an audition. Friedkin initially refused because the part had been cast. Finally he agreed, though he was certain it would go nowhere, but ended up being so impressed he gave Miller the part. Believe it or not, the spider walk down the stairs was initially even creepier. You can find it online but I doubt you want to lol. When you were commenting on that I was thinking just wait a minute, it's going to get worse. I don't think anything in this film tops the trauma of the crucifix scene. Another rambling review from me on another great reaction. I really love watching you two. I have a super close relationship with my mom as well. Thanks, I enjoyed this!
