Dick Hallorann is one of a long series of Stephen King characters who figures out the bad situation and is about to help and as a result promptly gets killed. I can think of five off the top of my head, I know there are others if I gave it more thought. It's always been my one pet peeve with him that he falls back on that storyline too often. Grady's actor Philip Stone has always been my favorite part of this film. I've only seen him in two other films, one being A Clockwork Orange (another Kubrick film) and one a five second role in an early Bond film. I don't understand why he didn't have a bigger career. The man had amazing presence and a fabulous voice. Yes, Lloyd at the bar was Joe Turkel, aka Mr. Tyrell in Blade Runner. Another great reaction. I really enjoy watching with you two.
