2023-07-17 02:50:55 +0000 UTCThis is my very favorite horror film and also one of my favorite films to see reactions to. A couple of the greatest twists every. I will forever be upset that Anthony Perkins didn't get an Oscar nomination but sadly genre films and actors are only beginning to get noticed by the academy. That closing shot of him is absolutely iconic. My parents raised me on Hitchcock, this being the one they waited the longest on (I was 13) and I'm a huge fan. Glad you've seen Rear Window and the Birds. Strangers On A Train, North By Northwest, and To Catch A Thief are probably my other three highest recommendations. Rope isn't one of his best but it has some amazing wordplay and great performances. Edith Head was also a longtime collaborator of Hitchcock. She is the reigning champion of Oscar nominations with 35 total and she does beautiful work in a good portion of Hitchcock's films. I will end this rambling review now. I knew you'd have fun with this one as a mother-and-son duo and just as I thought, many comments on YouTube also acknowledged how your reaction stood out from other channels that reacted to this film. Soon after the deputy sheriff ominously proclaims "Well, if the woman up there is Mrs. Bates, who's that woman buried out in Green Lawn Cemetery?" there is a prolonged scene where Norman goes up the stairs to talk to his mother and we see his hips swinging left and right from behind (usually how ladies might walk). This happens at around the film timestamp 1:25:06 (reaction video timestamp 1:26:57) . I was looking for any sign from your faces and sure enough, at the film timestamp 1:25:09 (reaction video timestamp 1:27:00), Jen frowned a bit and tilted her head but didn't say anything. Did she notice that the first time and if so, did that seem odd?
