Man, just watched the reaction and this movie still rules. I think in an alternate universe where everything else is somehow the same but the movie didn't exist, and then it came out this year it would still rule. Not like movie of the year but it would rack up talk asa sleeper hit kinda like Everything Everywhere All At Once did before it became super huge around Oscar Season anyways. Although I do think the movie was kind of misinterpreted in some ways, which is why folks might not have gotten everything the sequels were going for. I don't think they're perfect but I think on rewatches on recent years they work some interesting ideas in that are definitely continuations of some themes in this one that might not have been picked up on and I like them all, including the revival which apparently people really hated for various reasons. Speaking of EEAAO, a lot of that movie definitely has fun references to this one, which was part of why I liked it the first time I saw it.
