The twin theory got so popular before Season 2 even came out that Alex Hirsch the creator, HAD to make a fake leak. He instructed the crew to draw McGucket having 6 fingers writing on a journal. They then displayed it on a monitor screen, took a photo, and uploaded it on the internet as an anonymous account as a "spoiler/leak". It spread like wildfire. Alex then tweeted "Fuming right now" pretending to be mad. Then deleted the tweet. He's a bloody genius haha.

2025-10-29 23:39:30 +0000 UTCI love how bingers to this show would feel like the twin brother felt too out of nowhere but the fandom watching this back then theorized it perfectly. There was a secret room in the attic which Dipper and Mabel were fighting for in season 1. It was the twin's room. Stan subtly picks up glasses to hide in his sleeve in that episode hinting some genius lived there who made the experiment carpet that switched bodies. Ofc the same guy that wrote the journals. The biggest hint would be Stan being a Great Uncle to the twins, which means there's high chance that he has a twin. Another hint was how he mourned his Wax Stan in episode 3 of Season 1. He was thinking of his twin.
