ED&D Adventure Hooks
Added 2021-04-21 02:00:28 +0000 UTCHere are some potential adventure hooks that might be helpful for inspiring potential campaign ideas or pulling characters in certain directions based on what interests them.
The Round Princess' Burden: Rumours reach the party that a nearby Dwarven city's princess is undergoing a harrowing experience; in order to protect her people, she is being forced to fatten herself up as much as possible. Is this for political reasons, to abate a magical curse, or as part of some strange bargain? In any event, the Princess is seeking adventurers to help her solve the situation before she grows too large to ever recover.
The Wandering Hulk: Folk utter hearsay of a walking mountain passing through the nearby plains, with smaller mountains popping up in its wake. The more open-minded folk say that in reality, it's someone who has become so impossibly burdened with muscle that they need the space of open fields just to move around, and that whatever curse changed them to become this way also affects anyone who comes into contact with them. Is this true? Surely if someone is afflicted with this kind of curse, there must be something important behind it, and the victim would likely be grateful to have their curse lifted.
The Enchanter's Harem: A wizard has been causing havoc in the local villages. Whoever they are, they've been roaming from town to town, stealing men and women from their families, and when next they are seen, it is as impossibly oversexualized caricatures of themselves in the wizard's harem entourage. The desperate families are seeking any adventurers strong enough to defeat this wizard and return their loved ones, and hopefully return them to themselves if they can.
Sinister Slob's Mysterious Malpractice: The local medical school, designed to train healers to treat the ailments of the land, has undergone radical changes of late. The doctors preach strange doctrines and peddle unusual medications that turn those affected by them into lazy, gaseous slobs. A slowly-succumbing priest wants the mystery of what happened to this place of healing uncovered before they and their entire flock are reduced to simple, gassy behemoths.
Eternal Mothers' Vengeance: More and more of the town of Natalstead's population is becoming pregnant, and yet no-one in town has given birth in years since some slight was done to the Ancient tree of the Eternal Mother. As the town dives deeper into a haze of pregnancy and lust, a desperate plea is put out for someone who can right the harm that has been done and free the people from this neverending cycle of growth.
