The Maniac of DxD (Highschool dxd insert/ semi-crack): Chapter 46

“Oi!”
“Shut it!”
Channeling my inner Samuel L. Jackson, I roared out the curses that came to my mind, making Issei and the girls flinch and continue running, panting in exhaustion but not daring to so much as slow down lest they face my wrath.
Ever since that beat down I gave these girls and became a member of the club, this is how things have been.
They ask me for training to become as strong as me, and I oblige their request by giving them a training plan from hell (which is not really an exaggeration since I got this training plan from Tannin, the former Dragon King, who is now part of the Crimson Satan’s peerage)
Besides, I was not acting as a lazy drill sergeant either. I ran alongside this group of teenagers to motivate them.
As we continued running, I sensed one person fall behind the group, making me turn and give a glare filled with as much killing intent as I could muster.
Saji Genshirou, the Sitri heiress’s new pawn, flinched as he met my eyes and started running again at full power.
Truthfully speaking, I found the kid to be quite likable. Personality-wise, he was an upright person who did not like to cheat or go down the wrong way even in the face of necessity. Character-wise, there was nothing I could say except exemplary.
After his parents died in an accident, and his grandfather, the one who took him and his siblings in after his parents, died as well, he stepped up to take care of his siblings through his own hard work (which admittedly did not do much for his situation given Japan’s stupid laws and idiotic culture where a teenager in need can’t really work full-time to make a living) Until he was scouted by the devil heiress who took him into her peerage.
For someone with that kind of strength of character, I hold nothing but respect.
However, just like with any other human, he has a fatal flaw in his character.
I gave a slight glare from the side.
“Saji! Stop daydreaming about Shitori and start concentrating on the run!”
“Wha-!? How did you know-!? I mean, I don’t know what you are talking about!”
….Yup. He is a pervert.
Although not on the level of my student and his so-called friends and focused on one person only, it is still a fact that he is a full-on pervert when it comes to Sona Sitri.
Actually, I think that perverseness might be born out of genuine love for the person who pulled him out of the darkness he was in before he met her.
That being said, I don’t think a certain someone sees his perverseness and single-mindedness in the same light as I do.
I turned to the other side, where I found Ruruko Nimura, another new addition to the Sitri peerage, glaring at Saji with eyes full of jealousy.
…..Yeah, I am not getting involved in that.
Soon, our run came to an end as all the members of the Kendo club collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.
“Damnit, Ren-san! Why do you always increase the laps whenever we get used to the previous number of laps?”
I grinned at Reya’s question and squatted down beside her downed body.
“Well, how will you all improve if you stagnate and stay at the same number of laps without pushing yourselves to exhaustion?”
“…..You are a monster, no, the devil!”
“Hahaha!”
I laughed at her words and leaned in a little, speaking in a whisper that only she could hear.
“You do know that you are the devil between the two of us, right?”
Instantly, her face turned crimson in embarrassment at my reminder before she glared at me and turned away, making me laugh again.
I was really surprised when I learned that Reya joined the Sitri peerage after we became Third-year students.
Originally, I thought that Sitri's heir had somehow trapped the girl into becoming her servant, which did not sit well with me.
That old bat Yuki Kusaka helped me a lot when I was a kid without a place to call home and no real power to my name. So it is only right that I try to look after her granddaughter if someone is trying to take advantage of her.
Thankfully, my guess was just that, a guess.
Reya had accepted the offer willingly for reasons she did not want to talk about, which meant that it was her choice to become a devil, and I had no need to intervene on her behalf to smack some sense into the devil heiress.
I got to my feet and grinned down at the downed members of my club.
“Alright, let’s get back to the dojo and get ready for a round of spars. It will be a free-for-all with no restriction or rules!”
Boy, do I love the looks of despair and horror on their faces! Hehehe!
“Demon! You are a demon!”
“…it’s too late for you to realize that, Saji. You should count your lucky stars that he is not your master.”
I caught Saji giving Issei a sympathetic look and a pat on his shoulder, making the Red Dragon Emperor hunch and whimper in distress.
“….Sorry, buddy. Sounds like you got the short end of the stick.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that~Saji-chan~”
“Hiiik!”
The girly shriek that the boy gave as I suddenly appeared behind him would live rent-free in my mind for eternity to come.
“You know, Sitri asked me for a favor recently. She asked me to train you and Nimura in you know what, so that you can catch up with your ‘peers’.”
“….No, please tell me it’s a lie!”
I grinned at his despairing look, a look shared by his fellow newbie who also had a secret crush on him.
“Afraid not. While I was originally going to reject that request, just for your comment about my training method, I will take her up on the job.”
This time, it was Issei giving the only other man in the group a comforting pat.
“….Give up, Saji. You are fucked. Better prepare for getting traumatized and scarred for life.”
“NOOOOOOOOOO!”
“GAHAHAHAHA!”

Grigori, Underworld.
Within the halls of the base that was home to the Fallen Angel Faction, a secret meeting was taking place between two angels.
“…My lord, are you sure about this? I mean, there is no way that Maniac will not recognize my nature given his abilities.”
“I know, that is why I have given you that artifact I got from our associate.”
The Fallen Angel sitting on his throne leaned forward to stare at the woman kneeling in front of him.
“I don’t care what you do, Raynare. Threaten him, deceive him, sleep with him, do whatever is necessary, but I want the Red Dragon Emperor separated from Maniac Ren long enough for our plan to work.”
“That Boosted Gear would serve better in our ranks than by the side of that human.”
Raynare, the fallen angel, bowed her head at those words, knowing that she had no room to protest her master’s orders.
“Yes, Kokabiel-sama.”
“Good. Now, go.”
With those words, the lowest-ranking Fallen Angel set off to gather her companions for this secret task.
A task that she did not want but did not dare deny lest she die on the spot.
Left alone in his room, Kokabiel, the cadre, leaned back into his throne, plans forming and being discarded by the second.
