The Monster of Kaon (Transformers Si): Chapter 45

Windblade Fled.

That was all she could do as she held onto the unconscious form of her mentor as two Titans clashed.

Half transformed into her Alt-Mode, giving her the ability to fly as well as hold onto Maximus, she flew as fast as her current form would allow so that she could clear the battlefield and bring Maximus to safety.

The Combaticons, who were trying to fight the invader despite having damaged T-Cogs, were forgotten.

The Insecticons who swarmed the enemy Titan and tried to find a way for themselves to enter his body, along with Shockwave, who was directing the battle from a distance, were also forgotten.

The Forge of Solus Prime, the relic belonging to the very god that she and the rest of Caminus worshipped, was on her back, strapped carelessly to her body, something that she would not have ever imagined doing normally.

To Windblade, none of these things or people mattered.

To her, the only thing that truly mattered right now was her sire.

So she took the very first chance that appeared to take Maximus away from the battlefield.

Looking down at the heavily damaged frame of her sire, she could not help but grimace in worry.

When the attack hit, Maximus was one of the bots who were closest to the splash zone alongside a few Insecticons, who were outright blown to scrap.

However, she still remembered how he, despite being nearly unconscious at that time, positioned his body in such a way to protect her from any possible attack on instinct, which might have been one of the reasons why his body was so heavily damaged since the following blast was aimed right at her.

“Windblade. How is he doing!?”

“Badly! I can see his T-Cog working overtime to fix him, but he has already lost a lot of Energon. His spark chamber is exposed to the elements, and I can see his internals, they are not regenerating!”

Shockwave’s voice fell silent for a few seconds as a powerful cannon blast hit the attacking Titan on one of its knee joints, making the monster stumble a little bit.

“The situation is not ideal. He will need Cybermatter to recover, that, or the Forge. But you cannot take him to our base in the Rust Sea since his spark chamber is exposed and could cause irreversible damage to his spark should it be exposed to the Rust Storms, and the Forge only responds to him, so that is not an option either.”

“I suggest you take him to Kaon. There is an old Ascenticon base that was abandoned long ago in the pits. While there is no Cybermatter over there, it should prove to be a good temporary shelter until we deal with this Titan-Incoming!”

Windblade barely managed to barrel roll out of a powerful cannon blast that would have obliterated even a combiner.

“Windblade. Do not stop. Push yourself and fly as fast as possible. The foe that is now on your tail is not someone that you can fight.”

Her optics detected another surge in Energon, allowing her to once again roll away from an attack.

However, the assailant had cleverly disguised another blast beneath the power of the previous one, clipping her right wing with the attack.

It was only thanks to the fact that the damage was superficial that she continued to fly with renewed urgency.

“Just who in the name of Solus is this guy!?”

“That is, or rather was, Sixshot. A powerful Decepticon, further enhanced by me after he volunteered for an experimental enhancement.”

“Great! Another thing you will have to explain to Maximus once he gets up-“

Windblade dove to the ground as three different blasts sailed right past her, finally allowing her to catch sight of the bot flying behind her.

“Any advice!?”

“He was a natural Triple-changer before I modified his T-Cog, allowing him to take on six alt-forms, so you won’t have any advantage over him in that field. I also equipped him with state-of-the-art ranged weaponry, as you can see. And in terms of close-combat, he was a gladiator in the Pits of Kaon, so you have no chance there either. The best option you have right now is to run and hide.”

Windblade had no choice but to listen to the older bot, much to her chagrin. She was trained by the Torchbearers of Caminus, the greatest warriors of her people, yet here she was, forced to flee from a fight.

With no other choice, she turned and pushed herself to the limit, shooting forward with a sonic boom and heading straight for the only place where she might find a possible location to hide.

The former city of Iacon, which was now reduced to even more rubble than it already was, thanks to the emergence of the Titan beneath it.

Shockwave must have realized her intent as her communication system pinged with a map that showed the underground tunnels of the city.

“There should be plenty of spots to lose your pursuer in there. I will come for you two the moment Metroplex and I are done with Iaconus.”

“You better!”

It spoke of how fast she was going, pushing her partial alt-mode to the limit, when they reached the city of Iacon in a matter of half and hour, when it would normally take at least three hours to get to Iacon from Tarn normally.

However, the toll taken for such recklessness was already showing as Windblade’s Energon reserves continued to drop sharply while her thrusters and propellers started malfunctioning after that forced overdrive.

Unfortunately, even after all this effort, her optics could still pick up the Energon signature of Sixshot, who was still on their tail, albeit at a much greater distance, giving her some time to find a place to hide.

So hide she did, as she dove straight into the newly formed crater within the city from which the enemy Titan had emerged.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I drifted in and out of consciousness.

The last thing I remember clearly is the sudden explosion that knocked me out.

After that, it is just vague images and impressions.

I know that Windblade is trying to take away from the battlefield.

I can tell that we are being pursued.

My powers tell me that whoever is pursuing us is either someone who has gone through Shadowplay, or is probably some kind of drone, given the complete absence of emotions I could feel from them.

I can also tell that Windblade is being inhibited by both my weight and that of the Forge, which I can still feel within my spark thanks to the strange connection I forged with it the moment I held it in my arm.

Slowly and painfully, I tried to boot up my self-diagnostics, only to be faced with a literal flood of errors across the board.

Most of my systems are offline. My spark chamber is exposed. My brain module is partially damaged. My optics are scrap. My right arm is completely useless, including the laser canon, and my T-Cog is working overtime to try and patch me up, which it is failing miserably, given the extensive damage I sustained.

If things continue as they are, I will die.

I need something to bring me back to functionality.

I could use the Forge, but as I am now, I cannot use it properly. At best, I would end up with a partially restored body at the cost of using up one of our precious few uses of the Forge. At worst, it might not even work since my brain module is not in a state to give it direction.

This means there is only one way to restore myself to a semi-functional state.

To cannibalize parts from someone else.

And I know just who to use.

With great effort, I manipulated my right arm to point vaguely downward to our relative position, at a location that my power was highlighting my target.

Windblade must have understood my unspoken request since my power told me that we were descending rapidly.

The moment we landed, I did not even wait for a second despite Windblade’s alarmed noises.

I need to get this over with as soon as possible and get back into fighting shape.

My friends are in danger once again, and I will be damned if I fail to help them this time around.

Even if it costs me everything.

Pulling myself to the body of my clone, Fortress, whom my power recognized immediately, I placed my functional arm on whatever body part I could reach while pulling on the power of Amalgamous’s T-Cog.

And then, I came face to face with the being I held so much hatred for.

“….Well, I guess fate does work in strange ways, eh? My dear Sire?”

“You have no idea, Youngling.”
