For this month's post, we decided to geek out a bit.

BATTLETECH by Harebrained Schemes came out this week, and this has a couple of our mods giddy like kids before Christmas. Battletech and Mechwarrior are infamous for stealing intellectual property back in the 1980s, specifically the design of certain mechs. The current rights are owned by Harmony Gold, who seems to make a profit by suing people every time a new game in that universe comes out.

Many of you may know a few of the more iconic designs.

The Battletech Stinger, Wasp, and Pheonix Hawk are based off of the Macross Veritech Fighters.
The Archer is a Macross Missile Carrier.
The Marauder is a Zentraedi Battlepod.

But do you know where the Battlemaster, Griffin, Shadowhawk, Goliath, and Scorpion come from? An excellent 1981 anime called Taiyou no Kiba Dougram (Fang of the Sun Dagram)!

Enjoy BATTLETECH if you're going to play it, but don't forget to appreciate it's anime origins!
