75th Anniversary Team Ballot

I could never really find a list I liked in this exercise -- the first 50 or 55 were fairly easy, the next 10 or so feel manageable, but then finding a final 75 that felt "good" was impossible. Someone was either too flawed, too injured, didn't play long enough or lacked a super high peak despite being a really well-rounded player. Here's the list from the podcast, in order of year they debuted in the NBA:

The other players who I strongly considered, based on either longevity or peak/prime:

Will you ever post a top 75 peaks list since the three point era?

Yup, although he wasn't moved into my final cut group. I like Chauncey, but not nearly as much as some who seem to grant him magic longevity (or an incredible peak).

He has Pau on his list.

Hey Ben, if there wasn't any bias among GM's and players would either Pau or Marc Gasol be deserving of the 75th anniversary team? Considering there spacing, post scoring, passing, offensive rebounding, passing, and defense. Both players are highly scalable.

Was Chauncey Billups considered at all? I know Detroit had good offenses with him and Denver became a top offense once they traded AI for him but not sure how much of that was driven by Chauncey

Great list. Now make a 24-hour long video ranking them.

Agree, PG is kind of like Pau Gasol perhaps, lacking a bit longevity tho.

I actually thought Paul George had a better case based on his career value. Klay is a good choice but feels really light on longevity relative to some of the other players. Kyrie's case gets a bit flimsy if you consider health and the head-case stuff I discussed with Rodman.

Hey Ben, Great List and Podcast. Wondering what you thought about some of the modern "snubs" and how strong their case is. Think Howard should 100% be in but the Klay/Kyrie debate is a bit more difficult. Wondering who you thought had a better case as they seem to embody some of what you talk lots about with scalability etc. To me I think Klay had a good case and could see him squeezing in top 75 with his longevity over some of the other greats. Thanks, keep up the great work

I tried to get weak MVP peaks and the remaining best careers based on CORP values. Of course, there are a ton of longevity/career lumped together, so within them I tried to find the best primes/peaks if you will.

Hey Ben. Thanks for sharing your list. I'm guessing CORP was your main factor in compiling this list? Did you lean more towards peak CORP or total CORP or a more subjective combination? Also while I'm still typing I thought I would number 1 thank you for the much anticipated Top 10 rankings for 2021 (when LeBron sees he's number 6 he'll take it personally, so thanks in advance for fueling The King to ring #5 also thanks go out to Kyrie whose va**ine status might be the only thing that could've derailed Brooklyn, hopefully LeBron sends him a ring as well😜) and also ask about when we can expect to see updating CORP ratings that reflect the new wrinkles you added after your Greatest Peaks evaluations? Also thanks again for all the great content! Your basketball content is the best stuff going right now. And I'm not the only one who thinks so the Bball breakdown guy's recent Ben Simmons video looked like it could have been lifted right off on the Thinking Basketball YouTube channel. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery 🤷‍♂️ Anyways, keep up the awesome work Ben!
