Pair: OT7  x f!reader ; endgame ??? x f!reader

Summary: Working at a coffee shop that only opened in the late hours of the night was the most exciting thing about your life, really. You never had that many friends, your love life was nonexistent, and you just couldn’t explain the feeling of not belonging that chased you no matter where you tried to find your place. It was when seven very handsome strangers came into your life that weird things started happening around you and within you. Could they be the ones to fill in what’s been missing? Or would getting involved with them and their world put you in danger?

Genre: Series, fluff, angst, smut, non idol au, ABO, werewolf au.

Chapter Warnings: Smut is coming!!!! From the next chapter on things are getting steamyyyyyy! The chapters from now on are going to be really long, so they take a little longer to write. So I think I’m going to split them into “part 1 and part 2” so you guys don’t have to wait long for them!

WC: 5K

The sun was barely breaking the horizon as the five wolves slipped out of their home and ventured into the woods. Namjoon and Jungkook hadn’t been back last night, and at this point the rest of the pack –minus you– already knew what was going on with the maknae, so it was easy to guess where the two would be.

Many meters into the wooded area that surrounded their den, was a smaller cabin. A tiny house made of heavy, dark wood, only one bedroom, a modest kitchen, one bathroom. It was only ever used whenever one of them wanted some alone time for whatever reason; sometimes life in a pack of seven alphas was too stressful, sometimes they went through things that made them step out.

And this was one of those times, as Jungkook was apparently falling into an early rut.

Not that it was impossible for them to fall earlier than expected, but none of them were supposed to be feeling this way during this time of year, as it usually happened closer to spring or summer. The pack had been well timed in the past; although painful, and sometimes tricky depending on the member and their ways of dealing with it, Bangtan had dealt with unexpected ruts before.

But then again, they never had someone like you in the pack before, in their house, so teasing and pretty and irresistible.

Which ultimately made everything just a little more complicated.

When Seokjin pushed the cabin door open, Namjoon and Jungkook were already awake and sitting in the tiny living room. The room was filled with tension and the younger boy looked pitiful, curling in on himself at the very corner of the couch, hugging a pillow.

Hoseok was the first to walk to him, sitting on the arm of the couch, letting the distressed alpha wrap his arms around him instead, fingers instantly threading into the maknae’s hair in an attempt to soothe him.

“How long have you known this was coming, Kookah?” Hoseok asked the boy as the others remained silent.

“Ever since the ceremony.” he said with a whine, rubbing his cheek on Hobi’s stomach.

“Fighting with Chan,” Namjoon started to explain, pressing his fingers against his temple. “We believe it triggered him. Being challenged like that, for Yn. It was stressful enough to cause this.”

The members hummed in agreement, knowing highly stressful situations like a mating ceremony that they hadn’t been to in so long, being challenged by another pack alpha, over a girl they were courting… It was more surprising that more of them weren’t feeling this way too.

“Why didn’t you tell us, Kookie?” Jimin asked, sweet as honey, approaching him and Hoseok to drag a small hand up and down his back in comfort. They all knew what Jungkook was going through, they all felt solidarity for the young wolf.

Jungkook only shrugged, not really interested in chatting. But he didn’t need to tell them, they knew. They all knew that the moment Jungkook admitted that his rut was close, Namjoon would lock him inside this cabin, away from you. The poor boy must have tried to hold it off for as long as he could, just so he got to stay close to you for as long as he could.

“The signs were all there.” Seokjin took in a harsh breath as he looked around the cabin, beating himself up for not having realized it before. It was all right under his nose too.

“What do you mean, hyung?” Yoongi asked, voice lathered with sleep.

The more Jin looked around, the more he realized Jungkook hadn't only known this was coming, but he prepared for it. The cabin was spotless, not a speckle of dust on top of the little furniture that composed the space. The food that had been missing from the pantry was stocked neatly inside the door-less cabinets in the kitchen. A pile of firewood was placed by the fireplace, ready to keep the fire going.

Looking up to the small second floor, where the sleeping area was, they could see a few folded blankets and pillows, some of them that most likely smelled of you; ready to be used into a nest.

“The platform you were building…” Taehyung whispered, not wanting to irritate the alpha, knowing these were delicate times, but remembering the boy working in the shed yesterday. “Was that for a nest, Kook?”

Yeah.

“He’s starting to get feverish.” Jimin announced as he kneeled on the floor, pushing Jungkook’s hair out of his forehead so he could check his temperature. “How are we going to deal with this?”

“Isn’t that a big fucking question.” Namjoon snapped, standing up from his spot on the couch, which opened up space for Jimin to sit and hug Kook by his back.

It’s not that the leader didn’t feel bad for the kid. Hell, his heart was breaking to see him like that, he could feel the boy’s pain in his bones. But the two of them had already talked about the answer to that same question before the others showed up, and Namjoon was not happy with Jungkook’s wishes.

“I offered to find him a nice omega, bring them here for a couple of days–” Namjoon started, but Jungkook’s whining interrupted him. “But he does that everytime I suggest it.”

“He never wanted to spend his ruts with somebody before, what makes you think he’d say yes to it now?” ever the diplomat, Jimin spoke softly, not trying to step on the leader’s toes, but trying to vouch for the dongsaeng.

“Oh, no, he does want to spend it with someone.” Namjoon chuckled, but it was humorless. “Tell them who you want to spend your rut with.”

Jungkook didn’t need to open his mouth for everyone to know. It was more than a little obvious that he’d crave you. The same thing would happen with any of them, if they were being honest. There wasn’t a single alpha in this very cabin that wouldn’t want you to help them deal with this. But while the hyungs knew they couldn’t do that, Jungkook would be a little harder to convince.

Not only was he adamant you were his mate from the very beginning, he had a way of getting what he wanted. He was more than a little spoiled by the older members, because of his past, because he was the youngest, because they all loved him.

“Absolutely not.” Yoongi was the first to speak, shaking his head, making his blonde hair swish.

“But hyuuuung.” Jungkook whined again, lifting his head to stare at the pack. “She's my mate!”

“Just because you want that to be true, doesn’t make it true, Kookah.” Hobi insisted, sniffing the top of his head.

“But–” Jungkook was getting more and more frustrated by the minute, his wolf was going absolutely haywire inside his mind, so stressed the boy was starting to buzz.

“It cannot happen, you cant fucking bite her.” Namjoon told him, not really all that concerned about stepping on eggshells.

“I know I can’t bite her.” the boy was all whines and groans as he tried to reason with the hyungs.

“Really, Kook, it would kill her.” Hoseok insisted.

“I know–”

“You can’t knot her either.” Seokjin spoke and it make shivers rake through Jungkook’s body.

Jungkook was squirming, hips giving out the tiny movement before he said: “Fuck, stop, don’t make me think about that–”

Jimin and Taehyung let out small giggles as they watched the maknae struggling with that particular mental picture. Hoseok offered the youngest a cushion so he could cover his lap and keep whatever modicum of dignity he still held, even if the smell of his arousal was evident in the small place.

“I just don’t think the Goddess would be so mean to give me a mate that can’t handle being with me.” Jungkook tried again, sad and small, not at all what he would become in a few hours, after his rut really hit.

“She’s not–” Namjoon tried again.

“What if he's right?” Jimin asked the group, squeezing the back of Jungkook’s neck.

“What?” Namjoon’s question came out as a hiss.

“Okay, hear me out…”

“Jimin.” Yoongi warned.

“No, hyung, please. We have a list.” Taehyung defended his soulmate.

“A list–” Hoseok wheezed.

“This is important.” Jimin groaned.

“Fine. Go on.” Namjoon relented bitterly and they all pulled up a chair or found a seat.

This could take too long.

“Haven't you noticed how she started acting strange after the ceremony?” Jimin started, some of them nodded, Hoseok tried to interrupt:

“Yes, but what does that–”

“I’m getting there!” the blonde man hissed and they fell quiet. “ The same way that the challenging from Chan-hyung triggered Kook, maybe being at ceremony with everyone, so many different pheromones, triggered her–”

“Well, she has been affected by our pheromones before. That actually doesn't sound so far-fetched.” Hoseok saw himself agreeing.

“Yeah!” Taehyung chirped.

“So what? You think this is some kind of late awakening and she's about to reveal she was a wolf all along?” Namjoon enquired with a tired sigh.

“Not exactly.” Tae shook his head.

“We know it doesn't make sense with what she is... Being human.” Jimin continued to lay out the facts he and Taehyung had noticed. “But she’s been sleeping for over twelve hours everyday. When was the last time in the past two months you saw her do that?”

“Never.” Yoongi mumbled.

“Right. And movie night? You can't tell me that wasn't a nest.” Tae pushed.

“Especially with the way she acted when Namjoon knocked it down.” Jimin nodded and Namjoon gasped loudly.

“I what–” the leader started to freak out, having the vague memory of walking over your nest in his haste of pulling Jungkook away. He was so concerned with taking the maknae away from you that he didn’t even pay attention to anything else.

Highly amused with Namjoon’s desperation, Yoongi chuckled: “Oh yeah, you messed up. She's mad at you.”

“And you tell me this now??” Namjoon’s hands ran over his hair, effectively messing it up as his wolf begged him to march home right now and apologize.

“You spent the night here, what were we supposed to do?!” the second eldest was still laughing.

“Okay hang on– so let's assume you're right, and that all these signs mean something.” Hoseok steered the conversation back to the important topic at hand, staring at Jimin. “You're saying the ceremony triggered her? Because if being near werewolves did that, she would have been triggered weeks ago just by living in a house full of alphas.”

Jimin didn’t have an answer to that, looking over at Taehyung for a little help. But Tae didn’t know how to answer either. None of them did. Well, none of them but one,

“Not necessarily.” Seokjin offered and all heads turned to him.

“Please don’t say it.” Namjoon asked, hands still running over his hair.

“I don't want it to be the case either, but–” Seokjin took a big breath, always the one to enjoy dramatic pauses. “Maybe it wasn't the ceremony itself that triggered her. It was Kook’s rut that did.”

“Yes, yes, I knew it, I'm telling you!” Jungkook chirped happily. Finally the hyungs were seeing it!

“You think Jungkook being triggered, triggered her?” Yoongi’s head was about to start hurting.

“Mhm. Unfortunately, all of the signs the boys noticed…” Seokjin nodded. He hated to be the one to make the connection, but he couldn’t deny it any longer. “Omegas semi-hibernate in preparation for the many days of–activities they will have with their partners. The nest.... well that one's pretty self explanatory.”

“Does that mean she wants to spend my rut with me?” Jungkook sounded hopeful, dow eyes wide and sparkly.

“Not consciously, no.” Jin said and the boy deflated. “Essentially, I don't think she knows what she's doing. I don't even think she realizes it.”

“But–”

“You can't use her like that,  Kook. It would be wrong.” Jimin said softly.

“I'm not planning on deceiving her! I can explain everything–” the maknae tried.

“You're not getting near her, Kook, I’m sorry.” Namjoon said, and his word was the one that ruled.

“Like hell I won't. If she wants me, and she's clearly getting ready for me–” Jungkook, however, never backed down easily. A small growl bubbled up from his throat as he said: “She wants me to fuck her over and over until she's all full and–”

“Stop that.” Hoseok said with a sharp hold against Jungkook’s nape.

Jungkook squirmed from the touch and from the clear image he had on his head of you bending over and presenting yourself to him.

“This isn't up for discussion. It's too dangerous, you could hurt her. You will hurt her.” Namjoon wasn’t having any of it.

“I would never hurt my mate!”

“She's not your mate! She can't be.”

This made no sense to Namjoon at all, and while he was genuinely concerned about your safety,  he also had his own selfish reasons for wanting to keep you away from Jungkook.

“What do we do then?” Yoongi was the one to break the heavy silence.

“We keep him here until it passes.” Namjoon stated, getting up from the chair he had been sitting on. “He has enough food, water, a fireplace to stay warm. The windows are bolted and the door locks on the outside.”

Jungkook was about to cry and his long, howl-like whine, broke each and every one of their hearts. Essentially, they had all gone through that at least once before. Being so out of control during a rut that they had to be kept locked up. If not here in Dalju, then back in Seoul. They all knew how sad it was to spend those days all alone, how much pain Jungkook was about to be in, how his mind and body would be a complete mess for days that would feel more like weeks.

“I'm sorry, Koo.” Jimin tried to console the boy, but to no avail.

“We can still call Hyejin, ask her if she knows any young omegas available.” Yoongi tried one last time, feeling bad about Jungkook’s fate. “I'm sure anyone would be honored to help you wit it–”

“No. Don’t want it.”

Jungkook was sulking as he pulled away from Hoseok and Jimin, sinking into a couch cushion all by himself. The pillow he was hugging was pressed hard against his chest as his legs folded up and he could hide his face on his knees.

“We'll come to check on you.” Taehyung offered. “Split ourselves into shifts, make sure you’re okay.”

You were finishing making your bed when there was a little knock on your door. It wasn’t completely closed, just so you could listen for when the pack returned from wherever they had been all morning.

If it was up to your biological clock, you would have slept into the late hours of the afternoon, but you didn’t want to sleep away your life like this anymore; even if it felt nice. That day you had set up your alarm to wake you up at a reasonable hour.

But if you knew the pack wouldn’t be home, you would have preferred to stay asleep, as your heart absolutely clenched with the unreasonable thought of being left behind.

“Little human?” Namjoon called for you, slipping his head between your door and its frame.

“Hm?” you didn’t look at him, still more than a little upset about what happened yesterday.

“Can I come in?”

“It’s your house.” you shrugged, back turned to him as you fluffed your pillows.

“Yeah, but it’s yours too.” he told you softly. “I don’t have to come in if you don't want me in here.”

Namjoon sounded so earnest that you didn’t have the heart to send him away. You didn’t want to send him away. If anything, you wanted to drown in him.

“Come in, Joon.” you invited with a tiny sigh as you climbed on your bed, sitting in the middle of it.

“Thank you.” the alpha smiled softly as he walked in, pushing the door closed the rest of the way. “I wanted to apologize to you.”

“Why?” you folded your legs in front of you in criss-cross and patted the bed for him to join you.

“For yesterday. I know you worked so hard to make the playroom all nice and cozy for all of us, and I messed it up.” he admitted sheepishly as he carefully sat on your bed, pulling his feet up to mimic your position. Namjoon didn’t wear house slippers, which you thought was cute, but his feet were always clean.

“You didn’t mess it up…”

“But I kinda did, didn't I?” his chuckle was soft as dimples poked his cheeks and if you were ever mad at him for messing up your makeshift-bed, you didn’t remember.

“I’m sure you didn’t mean to.”

“No, I didn’t. Still doesn’t make it okay. I should have been more careful with your nest.” he said, eyes watching for your reaction.

“What’s a nest?” you frowned. “Wait, you think I’m a bird now? I know things have been weird but–”

“I mean, the term is the same, but birds aren’t the only ones who nest. Wolves do too, but it’s a little different.” Namjoon laughed at your confusion, but it never made you feel small or silly. You also liked that he always explained things to you in a very patient manner. “A nest is also an omega thing. A space where they feel safe, comforted. Filled with soft things, lots of blankets and pillows that usually smell of their pack. It can be made in a small space like a closet, or as big as a whole room, depending on how many mates or pack members they have. Does it ring a bell?”

“That– is exactly what I did, isn’t it?” the more he spoke, the more you recognized your actions in his words. “I had no idea that was a thing, though.”

“I know.”

“Then why? How?” you groaned, brows knitted as your bottom lip jutted out. This was more than a little frustrating. “Ugh, why does this keep happening to me?”

“I’m sorry, baby, I wish I had an easy answer for you.” Namjoon reached for you then, touching the side of your face, and it took everything in you not to crawl into his lap.

“I feel so lost, Joon. I don’t know who I am anymore.” you sighed, leaning against your headboard, staring at a little piece of lint on your pajama pants. “I know I’m not a wolf, I don’t heal as fast as you do, I’m not quick or strong or tall. The fact I can’t turn into a big furry creature is also a dead giveaway.”

“That part is overrated.” he joked to lighten the mood, which made you smile.

“But I don’t feel like I’m human either, not ever since everything’s been going on and it’s driving me crazy! Humans aren’t supposed to hear shit inside their head.”

“Language, little human.”

You squirmed and chirped, deep from your chest. Which was a sound you never used to make before. It turned into more frustration as you said: “Ughhh. See? What the hell was that noise? You talk to me like that and I want to submit to you because I know you’re my alpha. But humans don’t have alphas, do they?”

“But you do. It makes me happy when you behave as such.” Namjoon’s dragon eyes were low as he stared at you, flickering yellow just for a little moment.

“There’s that too!”

“What?” the man scooted a little closer to you, knees almost touching yours.

“Myself. Wanting to make you happy. Not only you, but the whole pack, too.” you huffed, feeling yourself get worked up. “I love to feel like I’m part of the pack. I love to know I do something to help out, that I’m not completely useless. That’s what I was trying to do when I made the… Nest.”

“You made us all so fucking happy, you have no idea.” Namjoon chuckled and you were suddenly hit with the smell of walnut and wet grass, not sure it oozed out of him because he was happy or trying to calm you down. Either way, it worked. “It’s really an alpha’s dream to have an omega nesting in their home, because it proves they feel safe and comfortable enough within the den. And you invited us all into your nest. You might not realize it, but it’s a great honor.”

“I felt really proud. Not only because it looked cute and felt nice, but because you were all there. I felt so calm, Joon.” you took a deep, shuddering breath, inhaling more of his natural scent, letting it settle in your lungs and in your veins. “Is there such a thing as omega humans?”

“If there is, you’re definitely one.”

If only things were that simple. It would make you feel a lot better about your sudden identity crisis, quelling your self doubts. There was a reason you were avoiding your parents and your best friend, only checking in every once in a while, giving them just enough to not worry about you.

How could you face your parents when you didn’t feel like their daughter anymore? You finally understood why Seokjin asked if you were adopted once, maybe if you had werewolf parents, you could all begin to understand some of it. And how could you text Kimee when you couldn’t tell her anything of what was going on? You’d only feel guilty.

Speaking of guilt–

“What happened to you and Kookie last night?” you asked, thinking back to the way Namjoon dragged the maknae out of the playroom.

“Ah. That’s… complicated.”

“I’m really smart.” you assured him, leaning forward so your hand could rest on top of his knee, just because.

“I know you are.” Joon smiled, covering your small hand with his huge one.

“Did you have a fight?”

“No, not really.” the man’s fingers were dancing on the back of your hand, tracing the veins there. “There’s something going on with him. Something that makes him feel things–”

“Is he sick?” you were filled with dread, but Namjoon’s touches were keeping the anxiety at bay.

“In a way, I guess.”

“Oh no, poor Kookie.” you lamented, eyes low, brows downcast. “Maybe I can make him some chicken noodle soup?”

“You’re not supposed to go near him, baby, not for a little while.” he told you and your back straightened, questions at the tip of your tongue. “It would only make it worse.”

“What? Why? What did I do?”

Namjoon let out a little sigh, taking your hand in between his. “Jungkook… He’s going into a rut.”

“Is that, like… A period thing?” you weren’t completely ignorant to that word, you had watched animal documentaries before. And the boys were part animal, so you could link things together.

“In human terms, kind of? But it’s not the same thing. God, this is a little embarrassing to explain.” Namjoon’s laugh tainted his cheeks a deep shade of pink as you looked at him expectantly. “Think of it as your fertile time of the month. It comes before your period, right? In female wolves, that’s called a heat. It’s the time of year where females are fertile, ready to be bred. That happens to male wolves too, but it’s called a rut.”

“Oh. Oooh.” your eyes widened as the information sunk in. “And that’s what’s happening with Kook?”

“Mhm. He’s not… Ovulating, obviously.” he wheezed out an awkward breath. “But he is– Basically, he’s about to get really horny.”

“Thanks for dumbing it down for me, but I got it.” you giggled, trying to mask your own shyness with a joke.

“Yeah. So. That’s why I had to take him away yesterday.” Namjoon explained and you felt a little guilty.

You were dry humping Hoseok right next to Jungkook, feeling the room with the smell of your arousal –and Hobi’s too–, moaning and gasping and trying to get off. While the poor boy was going through that. You had no way of knowing it was even a thing, much less have anticipated that it was happening right now… But your actions absolutely didn’t help him.

“He didn’t tell us it was coming. As a pack, we’re pretty good in telling the symptoms are there, but Jungkook’s rut wasn’t supposed to hit before spring.” Namjoon told you, which surprised you.

“What happened, then?”

“We think fighting with Chan triggered him and made it come early.”

It was your fault then. If the reason they fought was over you… Then poor Kookie was in rut early because of you.

“Is he okay?” you needed to know.

“He’s going to be. Induced ruts like this only last for about three or four days, but it can be really painful.” Namjoon told you with a grimace, it was clear he felt really bad for the maknae. “It’s a time where you don’t really think straight. Your inner wolf usually makes all the decisions for you, he overpowers your human parts. That’s what makes it dangerous. That’s why I had to take him away from you.”

“Does he… Want me?” you asked with pink cheeks, avoiding the man’s eyes.

“I’m afraid you’re the only thing he wants right now, little human. More than food. More than air.”

The way he spoke sent shivers down your spine, goosebumps making all your little hairs stand on end. You nibbled on your bottom lip before saying:

“Well, he can have me, I don’t mind–”

Namjoon swallowed a lump of jealousy as he heard your words, so certain, so pure. He believed you would give yourself to Jungkook like that. On the one hand, it made Namjoon happy to know you wanted to care for his pack’s youngest. But at the same time, the thought of you spending a rut of all things with him brought a bitter feeling to his lips.

“It’s not that simple. It’s very dangerous for you.” he told you, hoping you would understand the consequences of your offering.

“Kookie wouldn’t hurt me.” you told him so, with your determined little pout. It took a lot of self restraint for Namjoon to not lean in and kiss it away.

“Not on purpose, no, but his senses would get overwhelmed, his wolf would overpower him.”

“I can take it a little rough.” you mumbled, shy and sweet. It was torture for Namjoon, really.

“I’m sure you can.” he commented lowly, breath hitching as he thought about it. “But it’s not just about the crazy sex. A rut or a heat, it’s the perfect time for mating.”

“You mean he’d try to get me pregnant?” you asked as you remembered your conversation with Seokjin the day before, and how dangerous it would be for you and the pups; not to mention highly unlikely to happen.

“That’s part of it, but it would involve you being on your fertile time of the month, and you’re not–”

“How do you know that?!” you stared at him with wide eyes and Namjoon avoided them.

“We… Uh. We can smell when you’re ovulating.”

“What the–”

“I’m sorry! We don’t pay attention to it, it’s just–there!”

“Oh my god.” you covered your face with both hands, peeking at him through the cracks of your fingers.

“Yeah.” Namjoon shook his head, reaching out to pry your hands from your face, holding both of them in his. “So no, our biggest concern right now is not Kook’s inevitable desire to breed you. But mating is basically completing the bond. It’s biting your neck, giving you a mate mark. And ideally you’d bite him too, sealing your fate.”

“You think Jungkookie would do that without asking me? That would be inconsiderate to you guys too, as I didn’t make my choice yet.”

Besides, being so selfish didn’t sound like something Jungkook would ever do. Not with how much he loved and respected his hyungs. He respected you. But then again, you didn’t know Jungkook’s wolf. And with the way Namjoon was explaining things to you, it was that inner part of Kook that would be taking the shots.

“I’m not quite sure. But that’s not the problem either.” Namjoon gave your hands a little squeeze and you dragged your thumbs over his knuckles. “You wouldn’t handle the mate mark. I know we just agreed that you’re a human-omega, but your body is still purely human. No matter how many weird and impossible things happen to you.”

“I can take a bite.” you pouted petulantly. It was even one of your kinks! How could he say you couldn’t take a bite… They had all bitten you before and everything.

“I wish, little human.” he shook his head, bringing one of your hands to his plush lips. He took one of your fingers into his mouth, taking a little bite, dragging his teeth on your skin. “There’s poison on a wolf’s bite. And it’s lethal to your kind. You would only last a couple of days with it on your system.”

“Oh. Then Kookie would definitely not bite me. He would never hurt me, no matter how feral he gets, that much I know.”

“I wish I could be as certain as you, but it’s something that, as  pack alpha, I can't allow.” he insisted, and it sounded final. “That’s a risk I’m not willing to take, not when it comes to you.”

“I don’t like the idea of him being all alone, especially not if he’s hurting.” your hold on his hand grew stronger, pleading. “Can’t… someone else do something?”

You couldn’t say you wouldn’t mind it, or that it wouldn’t bother you. The mere idea of anyone touching him, or being touched by Jungkook made you feel sick to your very stomach. But imagining him alone and in pain, was somehow worse.

“We offered to find him an omega and he refused.”

“Why?”

“You know the answer to that one.” he told you and you nodded softly. “He won’t accept anyone but you.”

“Not even someone he’s dated before? Maybe an ex… This is not his first rut, is it?”

“It’s not, he’s been having them since he turned eighteen. That’s when wolves mature.” Namjoon explained as you played with his fingers as a distraction to the clenching of your heart. “But Kookah doesn’t have an ex. He’s never been with anyone.”

“No way.” it had to be a joke. Maybe Namjoon noticed how the subject bothered you and was trying to make it easier.

“Out of all of us, he’s always been very serious about saving himself for his mate.” the leader said, and this time you believed him.

“Kookie.” you cooed. “That’s very admirable, but that means he’s been in pain every time he’s in rut? It’s been years of it–”

“Mhm. And this time around it's worse because he thinks he found his mate.”

“I feel awful.” you shook your head, wishing more than anything you could see him right now. Maybe after Namjoon went to sleep, you could slip into Jungkook’s room through your shared bathroom and see him, even if just for a little bit.

“I know, baby, but it’s not your fault.” Namjoon cracked his spine as if his body was tired or sore and you wanted to take care of him too. “If anything he’s pretty pissed at me, not you. But he’ll understand why I’m keeping him locked up. He’s a good kid–”

“Wait, wait, back up– where is he?!”

“Oh, he’s not in a dungeon or anything, we have a small cabin in the woods.” he said it as if it was supposed to make you feel any better. “He has everything he needs, don’t worry. He’s been hoarding food, so he’s got plenty to eat. It’s comfortable there.”

“Why did you say he’s locked up?” you hissed.

“We… Have to bolt the door? Otherwise he could just get out and–”

You groaned, thinking about the boy out there, alone, without his pack, hurting. “He wouldn’t attack me, Joon.”

“Again, not a risk I’m willing to take.” he shook his head, but an idea was already forming in your mind.
