Build of the day for 24.11.2022

The progress towards the next Thrive and launcher releases is moving, albeit pretty slowly. Especially the day/night cycle which quite a few people seem to be looking forward is a bit stuck. As such we are going to delay the release by at least a week to December 10th. I'm taking time off from Thrive for the first time in what feels like years for the last two weeks of December, so we have a hard deadline of releasing before Christmas. The good news is that the launcher is now pretty much feature complete, and I just need to get the auto-updating working (I included some initial testing screenshots from Linux, whereas the actual updater is needed for Windows and Mac). Though, I haven't touched the mac version yet, so I hope that won't be a huge problem (or people will understand it missing the initial deadline). And also the game store versions likely need some tweaks as I haven't been able to test those yet.

For Thrive this week I tried to push people to finish a few smaller things that might still make it, so far the authors of those things are MIA. Luckily I think I can squeeze in me finishing the day/night code next before I scramble to get the launcher ready for release of the Thrive RC and launcher 2.0 on the 3rd of December. We did get one thing done for Thrive today, thanks to a programmer whose been pretty inactive lately. Some time ago we discovered that the transparency in cell membranes was not working. This was likely broken since the move to Godot years ago. So that's now finally fixed and things can be transparent again, though you shouldn't see entirely invisible cells as there's a cap to how transparent things can be, which is pretty high to ensure that even black cells are visible. 

I'll skip out on making another launcher test build this week as the core functionality is still basically the same so people who tested the previous beta version likely wouldn't see anything different. Though one highlight I did this week was making the interaction between Thrive and the launcher better, for example if Thrive doesn't start correctly the launcher will restart Thrive once (this will help if Thrive crashed due to mods).

In this build:

- Membrane colour transparency works again. Be prepared to have 

  AI species evolve to be more transparent again to avoid being eaten

  by the player.
