Oxide Computer Company has a really high-quality podcast (I think Doug, being a tech person, might enjoy some episodes). They have an episode about AI that pretty much summarizes the problem with any AI discussion: https://youtu.be/rOIDw38CEu8?si=Gg2pM5jYkKvS1Tzx My attempt to TL;DR it: "Given that this is a legitimately new technology, the range of applications is so broad that any discussion requires such nuance that having it on the internet is nearly impossible." It's fractals all the way down. I'd also add: a lot of people openly hate big tech (reasonably), and AI discourse has become a convenient vehicle for that.

2025-12-14 09:05:47 +0000 UTCI'm not tryna change your mind about the last part (I disagree ofc) but if you want more info about the ads, there's a FAQ video on Patreon you can watch that probably answers a lot of thoughts around it. This week was, annoyingly, a week with no booked host reads, so you heard those shitty filler ones, but for the next like 2 months the inventory sold on the show is mostly reads by us. That may not assuage your specific feeling here but I've noticed comments like yours mostly as a reaction to the Spotify filler ads that we don't do ourselves, so I figured I'd at least offer this info. - Aiden

You guys are already wealthy, you have an enormous amount of patreon support, the partnership, ads, and sponsorship is just greed.

Maybe many Patreon people also watch all the Big A stuff
