Hi guys ... not sure if you will see this. I had a question. With all this chaos and misinformation, I wondered what and where you go for your “sources of truth”? I ask because the anxiety of seeing my favorite news pubs coerced or worse, owned and manipulated and then social media like threads is filled with so much .... just stuff ... and I truly don't trust anything on x ... anyways. I wanted to ask in the off chance you might see this ... Thanks !!!

I genuinely think Aimen is correct on his birthrate take, but he also said that I was alone and afraid of phones so for that reason I'm out sharks

I have a Samsung S23 and a 2024 Macbook and am loving it. Haven't felt the need to buy an iphone to be in the ecosystem even though I have had a macbook since 2017. The M series chips are amazing for my usage, music and writing. And if I want to game, I'm lucky enough to afford geforce now which is beast!

“the fuck scroll” is such a fumbled joke... imagine “the daily fuck”

From a evolutionary biology perspective, people had many children because of high child mortality up until the age of 6. When that goes down the number of children also shrinks.

I think it makes sense about Apple and google are getting in a contract together. In Googles frame it seems like a great deal stemming from the question of how many people would switch from google to apple if iphones or mac’s had gemini integration? If apple is crushing them google is diversifying their income, I wouldn’t expect their sales to drop super significantly but they are getting the income from apples contract.

Why can one not exacerbate the other? Increased friction (unaffordable childcare and housing) leading to increased use of supernormal stimuli, that fills the same neurochemical gap. Also the answer is gooning, like fosho.

I am having issues with this episode, it does not seem to be present in the RSS feed, anyone else experiencing this issue?

I think Aiden and Atrioc are actually in agreement about why the birth rate is falling. Aiden is saying that women have more autonomy, have careers, and do not want to give up their individuality/lifestyle. Atrioc is saying that the trade off of having kids is giving up your career and a significant portion of your time. Ultimately I think Aiden’s perspective is right though. I think if you asked most women “would you like to be a stay at home mom and your partner would have 100k added to their income” most of them would still answer no. It’s a dramatic lifestyle change, and you’re fully financially dependent on your partner. Women have socially progressed to the point where motherhood is a less attractive option than the alternatives.

I think alot of people are just lying or saying what they believe is the socially correct answer about how many children they want. Im Not saying everyone that says “i want to have 2 children” is lying, i think there are alot of people who would like to have children but are unable to due to circumstances. Im saying anecdotally there are people i know with the means to have children who say they would like to have children who just aren’t. And i think some people when asked just answer they would like to have children even if they have no thoughts on it or don’t want them at all.
