Elective Name Lists for Games & Credits

Hello everyone!

As you may have noticed, I recently made a new end screen for my videos. There were a lot of reasons I wanted to create a new one, some technical, such as making the end screen easier to incorporate into my video editing, and some stylistic, for example, I wanted a cleaner look to the end screen, so information didn't get lost as easily.

But one of the biggest reasons for the change is that I feel I didn't have enough space to thank all of my dapper patrons (at least, not without having to scroll the credits list so fast no one could read the names xD)

However, this brings me around to a problem I've been chewing on for a while regarding the use of your names, both in the video end screens and, for those who very generously bankroll many of the ferret's toys and blankets, the game name list. 

Automatic inclusion.

I tried to manage this problem with a previous post, where anyone could request that their name not be included, or change how the name would be displayed (for example, if they had signed up to Patreon using their real name, but would prefer I use their screen name.) However, as happened several times, sometimes a problem would only be noticed after a name had appeared in one (or many) end screens. While I could make a change to future videos, to change any existing video was a much more complicated issue.

There were a few obvious (and repeatedly suggested) solutions, but almost all of them came with some pretty significant drawbacks or didn't feel right. Most notable amongst them: creating a pledge tier specifically for those who wanted to have their names on the end screens. 

I consider the credits section on my end screens a place where I can say thank you, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me, so that suggestion wasn't a good fit. But it did get me thinking about the difference between being on a name list by default, and being on it by choice.

So, going forward, I think it would be much better to use an elective name list, both for the credits section on the end screens of my videos, and the game name list. And by that, I mean I will only include a person's name if they ask me to. With the understanding, that if you don't request it, I'm still immensely grateful for your support, and I'm thanking you anyway, just not publically ;)

This way, your name will only be included if you expressly permit me to use it, and while you're doing that, you can let me know if you'd prefer I use a different spelling, or display name, etc. :)

You can do this by merely writing a comment in reply to this post. Though please be sure that if you change your mind later on, that you post a separate (new) comment here letting me know, as I might not notice the change if you delete or edit your original comment! XD

As before, the name lists will be updated with new patrons roughly monthly, a few days following the billing cycle at the beginning of the month. But I will do my best to update names that are already in the system as and when comments get posted, though if I've been a particularly productive Aavak, it may be a few days until you notice these changes trickle down into new videos (batch recording has its pros and cons XD)

I'm looking forward to completing the end screen animations, and being able to properly thank all of you for the enormous amount of support you've given to me and the channel!
