Patreon Updates & Upcoming Series!

Heyo everyone!

It’s the start of my favourite month, and I’ve got some exciting news and a couple of important updates to share with you all.

1) New Rimworld Let's Play for the main channel!

I’m sure some of you have noticed me streaming Rimworld again lately, and specifically that I’m testing out a bunch of mods (specifically, one of the ‘big’ mods, Combat Extended) to find a good balance… and also not suck too terribly concerning some of the enormous changes these mods bring to game balance. Looking at you, Centipedes -_-

But aside from getting the mods right, I also wanted your input on some of the broad strokes that will shape the story going into the game’s start—namely, the initial memes for the fluid ideoligeon.

As usual, I play Rimworld as a story generator, not a strategy sim, so things will change as the game progresses and the storyteller starts throwing crazy stuff at the colony. However, the ideoligeon will have the most significant impact on the colony's motivation and general behaviour at the beginning. Then, the trials (and, more importantly, how they overcome them) will further guide their development.

I’ll almost certainly invite more input as the series progresses, but to start with, we’ll have a simple poll to select the founding meme of the ideoligeon. I’ll post the poll here soon, so keep an eye out for it!

2) Patreon Billing System Update – THIS DOESN’T EFFECT EXISTING PATREONS!

Patreon is rolling out changes to its billing system to continue offering its services to users on iOS devices. Apple requires new members to use Apple’s in-app purchase system on iOS; however, as Apple’s system only supports a traditional subscription model, moving forward, new Patrons will be billed on the day they sign up (and again on that date every month moving forward) rather than waiting until the 1st of the following month. This is similar to Twitch subscriptions, where you’re charged immediately for the first month.

Existing Patreon memberships will not change and will continue to be billed on the 1st of each month.

To stay ahead of these changes (which officially roll out in November), I’ll be switching to this system early so we can sort out any issues before the switch becomes mandatory. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

3) Elective Name List Reminder

Lastly, here's a quick reminder: the Patreon name lists for my video credits and name in-game generator are optional! Some of you may use your real names for your Patreon accounts and prefer not to display that publicly. If you’d like your name to appear in the credits or have a preferred username instead, comment on this post, and I’ll include it!
