Decision Making 101: When should you take the level 1 5v5 fight? When should you not? and why?
Added 2025-08-20 23:36:53 +0000 UTCThis is a decision that basically affects every single game and directly influences your chances of winning starting from the very beginning of the game.
As such it is very important to understand exactly which team has a stronger level 1 fight and whether you should be looking for the fight or whether you should be avoiding it.
In this video I will explain in detail all the important decisions and heroes you should be taking into account.

Yes the is generally a good idea to clear the wave asap, the exception would be that your team has chunked a hero so low that your azmos damage will kill him in that example. If so then azmo should kill the hero obv instead of the wave

My overall takeaways: - Scaling heroes weak - need stacks / critical talents / or have resurrect abilities (Diablo, Varian, Murky, Leo...) - Dependable CC strong (Garrosh!, Brightwing, Uther...) - Double-soak offlaner often weak (most lack CC - if so just soak. D.Va, Malthael...) - Pure damage strong (Valla, Jaina... should also be pretty safe for them fighting right by wall) - Melee heroes may also be too vulnerable for little damage (Rag) -unless good CC like Maiev, Kerrigan... Probably heroes that want to play the whole map (heavily macro-oriented or globals) are also a potential liability - TLV, Rag, Abathur, Falstad, Dehaka fit that category. Thanks for the guide!
