Pivot to AI is on a break until the new year. The last FP crypto piece seems to be spreading in influential pundit circles - FP pay is middling, but its exposure levels are off the charts.

I got made redundant from the British Medical Journal as of the end of October! I'm looking for another senior sysadmin (= can do/talk to management) job in a reasonably mission-oriented organisation with London-centred WFH. Chasing hot leads right now. Tips most welcomed!

I cleared out the spare room and set it up as a writing room, with a desk, the spare desktop PC and an ancient LCD monitor from 2002 that needs a new backlight. I also got my office chair from the BMJ. It's very nice! Feels good!

I have started writing alleged book text for a long rant about AI. I have about 7000 unusable words so far. Then I wrote a 250-word rant on socials and had friends saying "TAKE MY MONEY". So if I can extend that to 50,000 words I have one Ed Zitron blog post.

This is also somewhere I wanted to do video from. At present I have a tripod with a phone clip, which is slightly better than nothing but not as good as something.

The loved one got me an anglepoise phone stand with a ring light and told me to get on tiktok. The kid concurs. Apparently whenever i go off on a rant i should be doing it there. What. I've managed never to use TikTok. I'd think that was a prerequisite. Though I could YouTube these just as well, I guess.

I told the loved one they need to do the same, just as good at presenting AND THEY HAVE THE FULL SETUP ALREADY so there. (I used their setup for my bit of the patrons video. We should do another of those ...)

Need to find the webcam that's mounted on the other tripod - that would go well on the anglepoise thing.
