Introducing May!

Hope you all have a nice weekend ahead, I know I will because I've just pushed out the last character intro for the upcoming demo! While Aria features several characters not yet introduced, May should close out the cast for now. Let's get to it!

************************

Accredited history begins with the Empire, and though it has cast a wide net to erase evidence of its forebears, fragments inevitably slip through. Curiosity, prohibition, and scarcity can make these artifacts especially valuable, and no trade hub would be complete without an illicit market in their dealing. From pottery shards to baffling and arcane constructions, there are always speculators willing to risk a quick payday.

It was in this line of work that May found herself, evaluating so-called "treasures" smuggled by her boss and restoring anything of value. One day, she found herself tinkering on a rusted automaton, an ancient mechanical humanoid of unknown purpose and one of hundreds unearthed worldwide. Unique to this one, however, was its intact vascular network of tessellated aetherglass. Exposing contacts to specific energies seemed to awaken its internal mechanisms, briefly animating the machine before shutting down just as hastily. In the right hands, this was worth a fortune.

News of the find inevitably spread, and May’s boss soon found himself rejecting successively grander offers as he awaited a king’s ransom. His greed eventually bested him, as an impatient buyer decided that taking it by force was quicker than further negotiation. It would have been an easy heist, had May’s sister not been there when the thieves arrived. Although she was caught by surprise, she was not knocked unconscious by the haphazard blow to her head, and instead bled out on the floor. As she lay dying, the automaton once again started up, and May rushed into the room to see it attacking her sister’s assailants. They escaped soon after, and though her sister’s body was unresponsive, May was greeted by her voice. Somehow, her sister's soul had been transferred to the automaton, igniting its aether reservoir with a multicolored glow.

There was no time to question this miracle, the fight had drawn too much attention and they were forced to flee with only what they carried. Her sister’s condition proved unprecedented, forcing them to seek Sonda Nyl’s unconventional methods. While the remote island gives them privacy and peace, it has yet to offer a solution.
