For suggestions, maybe you could try a tour through different virtual pet browser games along the same vein as Neopets? I remember Sylestia is a pretty good one I was obsessed with for a while, same with Chicken Smoothie. If you want ones based on somewhat realistic animals, Lioden, Wolvden, or Howrse all are great options.

Also want to mention the Wii, which the error screen itself wasn't too bad, but for me, it was almost always accompanied by a LOUD, grating sound that just made it even more jarring and scary😂😂
