deck.blue v2.8.0 is up!
Added 2024-05-30 00:43:08 +0000 UTCHey everyone, the monthly update is quite late but here nonetheless. This month has a huge feature that you won't be able to see that much, hopefully: the moderation update!
As you know, Bluesky recently added the composable moderation feature to the app and protocol and I'm happy to let you know that the labels are now working in deck.blue! It's an automatic process so you won't need to do anything after updating. You can't manage the label settings inside deck.blue and you'll have to go to bsky.app for that, but the labels are now properly filtering and warning posts based on which labelers you're subscribed to. If you notice any strange or unexpected behaviors regarding labels, please let me know through the Patreon messages or hello@deck.blue!
Aside from that, there's minor bug fixes and updates; you might notice the post icons are just a bit bigger to help with actually hitting them when clicking and the accounts panel got a revamp! It should be easier to see each account's settings and scheduling stuff now.

Once again talking about the future of deck.blue: recently I'm quite bummed out by some issues caused by Flutter Web that are out of my control and I'm sad to know that their latest update (3.22) brought more issues than fixes. At this point the only viable solution would be to start learning a proper web framework (like React, Next.js) to rewrite deck.blue from the ground up as it should have been from the start. I'm frustrated by this and I'm still not sure about what to do as this rewrite would take way longer than it took to get deck.blue to this point today since I'll be learning a brand new technology/framework as it goes as opposed to using something I've been used to for the last 6 years. Is letting deck.blue stay as it is and just maintaining it the best option? Should I keep updating and handling the Flutter Web issues? Should I just release desktop versions for Windows/Mac/Linux instead and shut down the Web version? Should I issue a notice saying that no more new features will be released because the whole thing is being rewritten? Both maintaining the current version and rewriting it isn't an option due to my available time, unfortunately. I'm really not sure and am open to your suggestions. So sorry about this whole situation but I didn't expect that the framework would become such an obstacle after so long using it.
