Welcome Lemmy.world!

Just 21 days ago, June 1st 2023, we started a Lemmy server https://lemmy.world.

Immediately after, Reddit did some bad stuff, for example the API pricing, so many people fled Reddit and landed on Lemmy.

This caused lemmy.world to grow quickly, today it has become the largest Lemmy server in the world!

The lemmy.world (and calckey.world) servers are run by the Mastodon.world team. To keep things simple, we will use 1 Patreon for all servers we run. (I will update the page to give a list)

Thank you to all new Lemmy.world patreons!

I have another host I use for Mastodon, but am loving Lemmy.world. Thanks for all the hard work!

joined lemmy.world first and started donating to support but i am concerned with the non-existent response to the meta/threads federation/de-federation. Is there going to be a statement on this?

Ending recurring donations due to the milquetoast attitude about threads federation. Meta is awful, and they've always been awful.

Great work on improving server stability!! We appreciate you guys!

Happy to chip in, thanks for the recent upgrades!

Came over after all the incredible work to stabilize and improve lemmy.world. My (main) mastodon account is part of Infosec.Exchange, but lemmy.world has made migrating from Reddit possible for me. Super grateful for all the work this team puts in.

Hi! Thanks for the support. It should be a lot better today, see https://lemmy.world/post/1061471.

I am more than happy to donate money to the cause, but I can't see myself continuing to use lemmy.world if performance remains as poor as it has been lately. I have attempted to create a post a dozen times and every time I get the spinning circle loading symbol for ages and nothing ever happens.

Right?!

I think its insane that lemmy.world is less than a month old, and has something like 100,000 users!

I stopped using Reddit as soon as Apollo stopped working. Then I found wefwef and it’s been great. I made accounts in both lemmy.world and programming.dev, and while at the moment programming.dev is much faster I want to support lemmy.world as I know that having a go to server to recommend to newbies to make the onboarding experience easier is invaluable. Also it seems like a lot of subreddits have communities on lemmy.world. Hopefully my contribution can help with server scaling so this server can continue to help Reddit refugees onboard to Lemmy. I’ll keep supporting for a while even if I don’t end up using this as my primary server just for that reason. Thanks for setting this up and helping with the migration!!

I hope that my small contribution can help keep the servers at lemmy.world from exploding! Thank you for all that you do.
