Animation Damnation: Tiny Toon Adventures - "Hollywood Plucky"

It's the September edition of our cartoon recap show and we're finally chatting about Tiny Toon Adventures!

The episode in question, "Hollywood Plucky," aired back on October 23, 1990, and features Plucky and Hampton delving deep into the seedy underbelly of Hollyweird as Plucky desperately tries to pass his script to a big-deal producer, all while Babs and Buster... just wait at a bus stop? This star-stuffed episode features "appearances" by Jack Nicholson, Indiana Jones (not Harrison Ford), Michael Keaton done up as Batman, Meryl Streep, Woody Allen, Mike Tyson, Arnold, Clint, and more!

Thanks so much for being so awesome and supporting Animation Damnation on Patreon! Please be sure to spread the word! Your support is what keeps this operation going! We know you have a number of choices for pods and we appreciate you spending some time with us!

I built up a nice WHM backlog over the last month and “…she lives in a mushroom…” absolutely killed me, thank you Eric

My favourite “BadAss” Looney Tunes image is Bugs dressed like Travolta and Jackson from Pulp Fiction, holding a sawed-off shotgun. Above his head, the text reads: “Forgive me Lord, but I have to go back to tha old me.”

Hell yeah Neuromancer

When Andrew asked if they were doing anything new with Looney Tunes, Steve mentioned New Looney Tunes. If you’re looking for new shorts with the OG characters, there's a series called Looney Tunes Cartoons, which is basically a continuation of the Golden Age shorts. It's actually very well done, and funny. The entire series is on HBO Max. Maybe a future episode of AD, perhaps?

The joke of the series that really stuck with me (perhaps from Summer Vacation) is someone trying to marry both his daughters to Buster Bunny and Buster says "that's bigamy!" and the guy says "no, that's big of me." Growing up in a Mormon household I got the bigamy joke as a tween and found it very funny.

The only Tiny Toon I remember having parents was Hampton only because of the Summer Vacation road trip with his parents (and uncle?) I tried watching the Tiny Toons reboot and watched the first two eps and lost interest

Surprised they the boys didn’t clock the “bad, and such small portions” joke is from opening monologue of Annie Hall.
