Triptych Eternal Maitreya (selfies, diary)

1. I bought an oriental carpet. I like it so much. ))

2. I have finally finished my triptych Eternal Maitreya (For one of my kitchen walls). According to Buddhist tradition, Maitreya is a bodhisattva who will appear on Earth in the future, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach the pure dharma. According to scriptures, Maitreya will be a successor to the present Buddha, Gautama Buddha (also known as Śākyamuni Buddha). The prophecy of the arrival of Maitreya refers to a time in the future when the dharma will have been forgotten by most on the terrestrial world. Maitreya is translated from Sanskrit as the One Who is Love. (pali: mettā) meaning "kind-hearted"). Maitreya as the bodhisattva and buddha of the future, will appear at the end of this kalpa from the heavens of Tushita, where he is believed to be in the present. In Far Eastern Buddhism, he is one of the most popular bodhisattvas and is associated with a future era of prosperity and bliss. The cult of Maitreya developed most of all in Korea, and also at various periods was significantly widespread in China, Myanmar and other Buddhist countries. Maitreya is the only bodhisattva revered by all schools of Buddhism, and the only one revered by the oldest Theravada school.

I decided to portray Maitreya as a star that shines over Everest. The Nepalese call the highest mountain in the world Sagarmatha (“Lord of the World”), the Tibetans call it Chomolungma (“Goddess is the mother of the world”), and the Europeans call Everest. There is an ancient legend. I will try to translate into English.

“The Mother of the World pointed out:

“Gather, winds, gather, snow. Do not fly birds, and do not approach, animals! The basis of the dark daring will not be affirmed. The light of the moon will not hold, but the ray of the sun will reach the top of the mountain. Save, Sun, my mountaintop, for where will I stand on guard? The beast will never ascend and human strength will not hold out!"

The Mother of the World herself with a fiery shield will stand guard. What glitters on the top of the mountain? Why have the whirlwinds folded a shining crown? She, the Great Mother, alone ascended the mountaintop. And no one will follow her.

“The Mother of the World shines on the highest mountain. She came out to smite the darkness. Why are enemies falling? And where do people turn their eyes in despair? She donned a fiery robe and surrounded herself with a wall of fire. She is our strength and aspiration ”.

I think it's very poetic, romantic and symbolic. This legend is clearly not from Buddhism, because what is main in Buddhism is inner peace, and in this legend there is an anguish, struggle, resistance. In Buddhism, if you fight the world, fight with people, then you are far from the inner peace, from enlightenment, and you are very infernal, you are very expansive, you are trying to remake the world - and the world is already perfect. I call this external psychological gluings. ))
