Weekly report 188

Hi, everybody.

Happy Friday, and I hope you're all feeling well. Here's a summary of our work last week:

Chestnut:

She spent the week drawing artwork for the reworked cutscene from Gomira's intro. We shared one of the images in a spoiler post, which, although unedited, gives an idea of the style we're going for. She's not yet done with the artwork since, although she hasn't had to design them from scratch (she has already done that before), the changes and the way I'm going to code them will mean we will have a different transition style between images of the cutscenes, to account for that some of the artworks need to be recomposed.

Pistachio:

I edited and posed dialogues from Gomira's second quest, finally passing the sex scene. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome, and although I can see the necessary polish, which I will begin working on once I'm done with the main content, I believe what is done will be enjoyable to those who have liked our previous content. Yesterday, I tested Chestnut's artwork to see if our current approach can work, and the results were positive (with some tweaks). Once she's done with them and me with my current tasks, I'll code them in.

Next week's plan:

Chestnut wants to finish the artwork from the cutscene she's working on and begin work on more sex scenes.

For the remaining days of Dec, I don't want to do anything other than posing and editing (plus rewriting if necessary) to finish the remaining posing tasks as soon as possible.

That's all, folks.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Cheers

Comments

It’s all Good then. I Can certainly see that you guys put a lot of love and effort in to the game and even in to a simple comment. 🫡 I love your game and will continue supporting it almost no matter what. Take the time you need🤘🏼

we do have internal deadlines that we try to reach, but we don't announce them simply because even if I say that a date is provisional or estimated, people will take that as a release date. That happened in one of our previous updates (0.3), and we were under so much stress that I honestly thought we should abandon this project since the stress was impacting our lives and our relationship (Chestnut, the artist, and I are married), and we ended up cutting a lot of content to be able to somewhat reach that deadline (and even then, with a 1-2 week delay). So, I don't want to make that mistake again. I want to finish this game and reach the 1.0 version, and I also want to keep the content that I think people who voted for Gomira's update deserve to get. The fact of the matter is that I can't estimate a release date. I estimated the number of tasks, and if you see how I have been adding to them (because either something just doesn't work and needs to be redone, or I was wrong about how easy/fast certain events were to make), you'll see that I can't do it with enough reliability to give a ballpark eta. We have taken a very long time to make this update, and trust me, I feel it every day and can't wait to finish it. Why? - although our newborn is 14-15 months or so and much much easier to take care of than, say, 8-12 months ago, she has impacted our work. As an example, Chestnut babysits our child in the mornings as I sleep, and then when I wake up, it's my turn until around 11pm as she works. that 6-8 hours is unbelievably tiring (physically and sometimes mentally if the baby has one of her screaming days). After everyone sleeps, my work hours begin (from around midnight to 8-9 in the morning), but I begin the work already exhausted from babysitting. I do what I can, but I'd be lying if I said the fatigue doesn't impact the work. - some events, quests, or scenes are difficult to get right. we plan everything in advance and storyboard a lot of the cutscenes, but then as I start posing/editing, I change things that don't work (you judge them better after they've actually been added to the game). That has happened a great deal with this update (perhaps because of the above reason, or perhaps it's a more challenging story, I'm not quite sure). - the 0.7 just has more words than the previous releases. so I have had a lot more to write, edit, pose. once I start the polish phase (after I'm done with the content), there will also be more things to fix and debug than before. god, this comment became too long.

I agree with you that they should take the time they need. But still… it’s been over a year and I certainly would be happy if we soon got an ETA. And no I don’t want a refund or anything else. I’m just curious if we have 2 wait 6 months or if it’s coming early next year. Love the game🤘🏼

Gaming_lord
