Weekly report 209

I hope you're doing well and have had a great week. Here's a summary of our work since the last report:
Chestnut:
She has been busy creating sprite variations from the placeholders I had made earlier when I was in the posing phase. They mostly involve drawing hands for the MC, Gomira, and other characters.
Pistachio:
My main focus last week was the ending of Gomira's update, creating several placeholders, writing new dialogues, and posing them, in effect making the final confrontation with the big baddie of this update more 'epic' (within the scope of a 2D nsfw game, mind you 😅).
Last night, I had to stop my work on 0.7 and return to 0.6 since I had been reading about how Patreon has suspended several NSFW game developers' accounts, and I decided that for my own peace of mind, I needed to go through our game and try to scrutinize everything with the intention of identifying anything that might be deemed off. I have made a list of a few changes, and my plan for tonight is to finish these changes, do a quick test to make sure nothing's broken, and release the 0.6.03 this Sunday.
People who have played the 0.6.02 update wouldn't need to replay it, since most of the changes will be minor (e.g. Lana will stop the MC before he has had the chance to touch her breast when she's asleep, the MC will get a choice of Kissing Celestina or not when she's forcing him to do so, etc.), and it's just to make sure there is absolutely nothing that can raise eyebrows.
Next week's plan:
Chestnut's going to continue working on sprites.
After I've released the 0.6.03, I'm going to get back to the end of Gomira's second quest, wrap it up, and then start another content-improvement task (my plan for this month).

Okay, let me preface this by saying I love the both of you, and I intend to support you as long as I'm able (if worse comes to worst, I've already got an SSA account). That said, while I am inclined to agree about the vanilla state of WaL, the fact that you've already made revisions speaks volumes about your concerns. And honestly, I agree with others' statements: Patreon isn't going to use logic if they decide to pull the rug out from under you. They're just gonna drop the hammer and say "talk to our legal team if you have a problem with it". I didn't hate Patreon when I joined, to be fair. I hate what it's become. Everything they've implemented, whether on the surface it seems good or not, feels like it's intended to make the platform more attractive to investors; not to actually make it a better UX.

2024-05-17 03:19:44 +0000 UTCto be fair, had it not been because of Patreon, I think I'd still be miserable doing my old job (teaching english to kids). my only problem is that you hear people's accounts getting closed without being given a chance to address whatever issues they may have. to what extent taht's true? I don't know. I'm not in contact with many other content creators, but I personally believe our game complies with patreon's tos, and if I'm just banned without any explanations then I'd be pretty devastated, I won't lie.

2024-05-17 03:09:53 +0000 UTCI will probably create a subscribe star account after 0.7. maybe these changes have been for nothing, but I honestly can't find anything else in the game that is even remotely in violation of Patreon's tos. all of these aside, going through the 0.1 content made it even more clear that before 1.0 is out, we will need to revisit the content of our very first release for some polish work, since the way I used to pose the sprites was terrible 😅

Ideally, though, to be honest with you, I'd rather stay in Patreon's good books since it's better recognized in general, and I would much prefer to focus on one platform and forget about it. especially since our game is very mild anyway, and complies with their ToS even without much effort on our part.

I'd rather you didn't mess with your work to try to head off censors, thats never good. Seriously consider using a different platform

Yes, most payment processors are absurdly puritanical and all too happy to fuck platforms over that run afoul of their values. If I had a dollar for every adult-leaning site I'd interacted with that got screwed by payment processors, I'd be less mad about the amount that is going to Patreon. They can absolutely take their business elsewhere; they just don't want to because the terms won't be as lucrative for them. They'd rather """""think of the children""""" and alienate the userbase that made them what they are to begin with.

2024-05-11 05:23:28 +0000 UTCOne of my greatest resentments currently is that in order to support the creators I love, part of my money is going to a platform that I actively hate. Patreon is such a shithole anymore; they built their userbase on NSFW content creators, and now they make every effort to screw them over in the name of "decency" which is just them trying to make the platform more marketable and attractive to investors. Creators aside, I genuinely hope this site goes the way of Tumblr.
