Weekly report 226

Hi everybody.

Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week and are looking forward to your weekend.

This report will be short, as I didn't work last week (aside from the weekend during which I finished the edits I had been working on the previous week). Instead, I took care of our toddler full-time to give Chestnut more work hours. Her goal was to wrap up the bulk of the extra art (both improvements and new variations) as soon as possible so that I can add them to the game when I'm done with the second quest and prepare for the second round of polishing. She's not done yet, but we hope that will be achievable before the next report, and at that point, we'll return to our regular schedule: Chestnut working from early morning until the afternoon while I babysit, then we'll switch with me working from around 18:00 until I go to bed.

Another work-related update is that starting this Monday our toddler will go to kindergarten, and while we expect this first month to be for adjustments, from Oct (most likely) we'll be able to work more effectively and put in more hours every day. That should definitely help us get0.7 out, something we're both very eager to do as soon as possible.

Hi there. Thanks for this feedback and what you said is 100% legitimate, and believe me it's something we think about a couple of times a week at least. I know from the outside it may seem that we're overpolishing, but I promise you that that is not the case. 0.7 has many more words than our previous updates and has a handful of very complex events (complex given our past experience), and in addition to that (which would have inflated the polish on its own), I have unfortunately seen that some of my posing and storytelling from the first year of work on 0.7 are just lacking in quality or don't make sense and need to be readjusted to match everything else. We didn't want to reach the 2 year mark, to begin with, and I promise you both Chestnut and I are doing everything we can to get this update done (we're exhausted too and honestly after 2 years, for more than a year and half of which we have had zero weekends need a break). The good news is that we'll be done soon enough and we have some plans for things we can do to make sure we don't take this long for future updates.

Hello MagicNuts, I’m glad to know that you’ll hopefully have an easier time with your organization in the next days and weeks. 👍 I’d like to point out that while it is perfectly legitimate to polish, and being a perfectionist can be a quality, over-over-over polishing on the contrary may needlessly delay the release of the next installment. As a matter of fact, as during all the testing you have played the game many many times, you may find after so many playthroughs that some things may need to be changed or improved while it is not necessarily the case. For someone who will play the game doing one or two playthroughs, be it a player or yourselves back in the days when you were at the first playthroughs, you would probably find it very good as it is. English is not my native language, so I hope I was able to convey the idea nevertheless. We all appreciate your game which is truly a gem in the AVN world, so it would be really appreciated if the release could be offered in a decently reasonable amount of time. I do not intend to be pushy by this message, but I felt like writing it because it seemed legitimate to me and other patreons may feel like the same too.
